He's been on Howard Stern twice this year (In studio in May and via telephone a few weeks from Hawaii [with buddy and fellow toker Woody Harrelson who had called in to promote the DVD release of "The Messenger"]) and talked heavily about his pot habit. He stated in his in-studio appearance on May 4th the following: "Some people smoke to get high. I smoke to get normal." He also talked about the virtues of a vaporizer over other methods of smoking weed. He said that he switched from alcohol to weed because alcohol made him meaner.

Where's the very small room for people who are surprised? LOL He makes no bones about his marijuana use. Admirable as the honesty may be, you have to question is intelligence as a high profile person to then cross the border with it on his person...

Gee, now I know why he always starts his European tours in Amsterdam.
Well, no one can change the habits of people over 70. My wife and I have seen Willie on stage many many times, and pot or not, he alsways starts his show on time, he always is his money worth and, sitting in row one in Stuttgart this year, my wife finally got an original Willie Nelson bandana straight from the maestro himself.

Yep, Willie is a great threat to US security. Good job Border Patrol. What a waste of tax dollars, I think they are about the worst part of the Department of Homeland "Security". (that name makes my skin crawl)
I always thought I would work until I died. I find that I am ready to not work anymore.

Quoting ShyFlyer (Reply 4): Not that it matters much, but he didn't cross the border. I thought the same thing, but the checkpoint was in Sierra Blanca, TX.
A little googling brings up:
Country music superstar Willie Nelson was arrested Friday morning for allegedly having about 6 ounces of marijuana after his tour bus was stopped at the Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, about 85 miles east of El Paso. He posted bond and was released shortly after.
Nelson, 77, was traveling from California to Austin, where he owns a ranch.
