NEW YORK (CBS) Brooklyn high school Spanish teacher Alini Brito, who was fired for allegedly getting frisky with another female co-worker in a classroom, claims she was wrongfully terminated and is suing to get her job back.
Brito claims she became so weak that she decided to lay down on the floor and took her sweater off so that Mauro could place it underneath her head. Mauro then used a chair to prop up Brito's legs in order "to aid her circulation," says The New York Daily News.
Cue the janitor who entered the classroom and says he saw two topless women rolling around on the floor and went to get the school safety officer Ruth Reyes.
I am with the teacher on this one and I hope she wins. Shame on the school for overreacting. Spanish teacher Alini Brito was in need and luckily was able to get help from a co-worker - Cindy Mauro.
This school should be happy to have teachers that are quick-thinkers and able to think on their feet in situations like this. I am willing to bet that enrollment in Alini Brito's Spanish class was very high and encouraged many teen-aged boys to learn Spanish as a second language. The 'jobs of the future' certainly will require knowledge of a 2nd. language, particularly Spanish.
Something is wrong with a school district that punishes outstanding teachers like Alini Brito and Cindy Mauro but give 2nd. & 3rd. chances to street thugs that disrupt class and bring weapons to school.
America needs more teachers like Alini Brito and Cindy Mauro.

Brito is rather attractive.
That said, there are two wildly different stories here. As someone who handles this exact kind of case for a living, its a little surprising. You hear all sorts of bad stuff about clients that you usually don't believe, but this really is two different extremes. I wonder if the janitor has been deposed yet? That may open some eyes.

Agree here. Not a lot of info on which to make a a judgement either way. Obviously if the teacher's version of events is correct, then this is unfair.
I read another article which says that the school destroyed a security video that Brito says will show the school's version is untrue. Indeed, looking at this from a neutral prospective, what really makes me question the school's version is that the janitor and the other school employee have what appears to be different versions of their own side. The Manhattan Supreme Court (in New York, they are weird and call their courts of first instance the Supreme Court with the people in the robe being a Justice, while their highest court is the New York Court of Appeals and they are called Judges) has registered the case but not any other info. I would like to read a bit more.
I'm betting the reason the State has released the administrative findings is to sway some opinion on their side, but having dealt with public entity internal administrative hearings, Brito will probably have a more fair hearing in a real court.

That could be more than a little interesting. I doubt that the janitor will be able to handle a good attorney in a vigorous deposition.
I also think that the administration in the school will be enjoying a deposition, especially when it covers the destruction of evidence.

This school has some explaining to do. Why would they destroy evidence?
Even IF these two teachers were in the wrong, can they keep their jobs and get therapy?
Why is it that gang bangers and hoodlums that disrupt class and bring weapons to school get to have a 2rd. & 3rd. chance?
Why can't these teachers?

Exactly!
Quoting Fly2HMO (Reply 7): No real man would walk out and tell on two girls getting frisky. Seriously. That's assuming they were getting frisky.
I'd use the American Pie line "Looks like you could use an extra hand."
Seriously though, and not trying to take this thread to a XXX level but what sort of position were they in when the janitor saw them? Do you take insulin in the butt cheek? Was one laying down and the other giving the injection in the tush?
I'm dead serious on this, just trying to piece it together. I can't imagine giving a shot in the shoulder would look remotely sexual.

The initial story when disclosed a few days after it happened was that the two women were getting 'frisky' with each other during a program at the school where students were away at an assembly. Of course the Janitor may have been looking for a 'gotcha' to get a promotion or dome other payoff of more hours so he had incentive to rat on them. I highly doubt it had something to do with a need for an insulin injection.

Not sure. Some requires a shot to the finger tip. That sounds very painful.

Regardless, these ladies should get off.
I'm sure students at Madison High School has got away for doing much worse.

Usually in the front abdomen, between the navel and hipbone.

Hence why the lady had to remove her blouse.
The janitor is trying to use the 'candy in her office' against her when in fact, many diabetics are required to eat candy on intervals.
On a serious note.
This story reveals why so many smart and talented people stray away from teaching. I have a tremendous amount of respect for teachers in inner-city schools that teach subjects that are in need. Spanish is one of them. We see how violent many students of high school age behave and yet they get so many chances.
It would set a terrible precedence to fire and punish Alini Brito over this act while students at her school get a slap on the wrist and therapy for bringing deadly weapons to school.
Anyone else agree?

My clarinet professor passed out during the lesson after mine one day when I was still in college. I remember her laying on the floor with something behind her head and her feet elevated, just like the article describes, but she sure didn't take her shirt off.

You must have a very impressive clarinet.
Did she pass out because of lack of insulin?
Was she diabetic?

I believe the finger tip pokes are to check blood sugar.

You can pass out from either excessively high or low blood sugar. I've passed out before because of both...
As for insulin shots, you can take them either in the arms or legs. Sometimes, in cases of extreme blood glucose levels, I give myself shots in the abdomen. A nurse told me that the insulin works into the blood stream quicker down there for some reason...

Here's a more "accurate" story of what supposedly took place. The two articles are written quite differently and one has more facts to support what really happened and seems like that's what was really going on...nonetheless inappropriate especially for where it took place.
I read that story too but wasn't sure if the Daily News is a good source or not.
I'm not up on local New York media outlets so I went with the CBS link for sake of discussion.
The two stories are very different and so are the pictures. They look much hotter in the link I provided.
If it is true, it's too bad they didn't just go to the Saint Marks Hotel in Greenwhich Village and split the hourly rate of $125.
Yes I know hotels in New York are expensive but doing it on your job? That is pushing it.
Many of the comments in your link does raise some good questions, particularly the comment left by Daringest.
If these were two gay men, they would be serving prison time by now.
I still want to believe the diabetic part. Also, why would they fight this in court IF 'this story' is true?

I'd would ask you to post a photo of your clarinet but I don't want other members to faint.
