I'm looking at the Canon SX30, i believe it has a HDMI connection. It's a solid camera for sure and in Canada i saw one for $388 at Walmart.

That's for you to decide. Generally, you can't go wrong with any of the mid to high-end cameras of most any brand. It's the bottom half of the range where they start to differ.

May want to check here:

Maybe a bit too technical but it narrowed it down for me when I bought my D90

Not sure what your price range is? The Canon i suggested is a wee bit cheaper than the D90....but then again they are two different animals.

thanks for everybody's help. I looked at the prices for high end cameras and decided it was a bit too much. So I went to B&H (great photography store btw) and inquired about good low end cameras and i got the Panasonic lumix fh-20 for only $140.

these some raw pics taken with the camera without any editing or enhancements.

Sony HX5

I have this camera too and it's phenominal...I am a huge fan of the Panorama and anit-blur, low-light modes.

It's on the pricier end of the P&S range but totally worth it!
