11 years ago, I was only 16 years old hence the 16 on my user name, when I first joined this website. Back then, when Johan ran this site, it was in the beginning stage, and 11 years later, Airliners.net is practically the largest aviation database site on the WWW. I know there are a few of us "grandfathered" guys still here and active and some are long gone. We discussed many events on this site such as Sept 11, 2001, Airliners.net user TheGov incident, Crash of the Concorde, The A.net kid who stole an airplane and crashed into a building in Tampa, FL, FLAirport, making fun of ANCFlyer's Hat, to many more interesting topics. We'll see what the the next 11 years will be.

Wow, there are some memories! Congratulations on having spent 40% of your life as an Airliners.net member! Some of the things which stick in my mind from back in the day were the AA/TWA and UA/US mergers, and Caledonian Wings...

??? I never heard about this. Sure I joined in 2004 but can you tell me more about this? I was 16 as well when I joined in 2004 (approaching my 7th anniversary in May) and the site sure has changed a lot. The layout, functionality and design have all been much improved over the years and I hope that a.net stays online for many more years to come...

Yes, at least half a dozen new countries have been added to a.net drop down list since then.. and one country has ceased to exist too!

My bad, TheGov is actually here today. Mistaken identity. The guy I mentioned is here:

I have never looked at a snowglobe the same way after the FLAIRPORT incident.

Congratulations, fellow old timer!

Also: Every time I sit in a BMW, I wonder if it has the interior made by KIA...

I've been on the forums since at least 1999 but under a different username. I then was gone for a while, forgot the username, and... well, got this one.

Happy anniversary indeed! 11 years is quite some time. I'm nearing 11 years as well. That means I joined when I was 13. I was annoying and stupid back then.

Psssh. Rookie.

Take a look at some of your first posts. I did for me, and wow. A bit embarrassing.

Anyhow, nice to see some old timers still sticking around.
