People told me I was dreaming with the Rangers last year, too, when I predicted them to make the World Series (Drew!) and that the Angels would run away with the West. Looks like the hand is on the other foot now!
Good luck to all! Except the Angels!

I'm no Angels fan, but I always pull for my Astros. How many games is Texas gonna win this season, Pat?

The Brewers started the season with back-to-back home runs! That must be a good omen, right?!
Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

I'll go with 93. Oakland will win 91. Anaheim around 80. I have nothing against the Astros and I think they are going to do better than a lot of people think. Brett Wallace has the potential to be a beast, and they have a really underrated pitching staff.
Quoting Aaron747 (Reply 4): I'm glad nobody put the Giants on top for the NL west. We play best as underdogs.
Also glad I'm not the only one who watched Field of Dreams last night...
Of course you weren't the only one to watch Field of Dreams last night! I know of at least 4 other friends who watched it.
The Giants still have a solid team. And I do think they make the playoffs and could beat the Phillies again. They could easily win the West. But I have a soft spot for the Rockies. The Rockies are more of a loyalty choice than a reality choice. Kinda like the Rangers winning the Series
And, because I have a couple minutes to kill, here are a few baseball phrases people should use more often.
"Glove is a many splendored thing."
"Might as well face it, he's addicted to glove."
"My endless glove."

Baseball is the pastime of America and we get 5 replies thus far? Pathetic.

Fielder will start eating meat again and they'll stink. They ended up losing to the Reds...

There entire field is getting younger - Wallace, Sanchez, Johnson, Bourn, Pence, etc. If Myers can hold it together they could be Philly today.
Oakland could win more games than Texas this year.

Man, they sure effed up last night! They better shake off those opening day jitters.
On a side note, I was at the opener last night in LA...dressed in my Giants shirt and hat. What a bunch of pathetic fans those Dodgers fans are. Absolutely disgusting. Yes I expected every bit of it...but they have to be baseballs worst fans. Threatening to crack open my skull for being a Giants fan? Throwing peanuts, beer, spitting on every Giants fan who walked to and from their seats? CRITICALLY beating a Giants fan in the parking lot UNPROVOKED? COME ON. Stick to playing with your beach balls and trying to start that stupid wave and leave us opposing fans alone so we can watch the game. Idiots...
Sorry...end rant.

They are young and learning. I'd love to see them go .500 this season.

White Sox are up by two touchdowns. I'll take it even if it is game 1. My old roommate who lives in Cleveland now said its Lebrons fault haha.

Kansas City, above .500? Amazing. Probably the only point in the year that we'll be above .500. The first two weeks of April are usually the only fun weeks to be a Royals fan.

As if they didn't have enough problems already this year, have a look at this actual unedited footage of their TV broadcast after their opening day loss to the Marlins:

What a rough weekend for the jints...but make that many errors and that's what happens. Not to mention Tejada is a LOSER for swinging at the first offering from a struggling pitcher with sacks juiced and two down. No excuse for that from a 13-year veteran. Fortunately the staff looks great as there were not any awful performances all weekend. The Dodgers should be counting their lucky stars they walked away with three instead of one. Still amazed that in a city of 15 million, they can't fill up that gorgeous ballpark for an entire opening series. If they do sell out, it's hard to tell since people either show up in the 3rd or start home in the 7th
Quoting AGM100 (Reply 16): Oh the horror .... its bound to happen especially when gangs ID with MLB teams and colors. Sad.
Your right its always fun to be a fan in another teams park ...
Have been to many games at Chavez Ravine over the years, but it's only recently it seems things have taken a turn. My brother and cousin were threatened in the LAD parking lot in 2008 after a game as well, by two Latino thugs who told them to "take off those fag colors or go back to Frisco". It's a GAME people...for cryin' out loud. Usually when you go to a ballgame, there are plenty of cops around. By all accounts, Dodgers management does not think they have a security problem, and the poor lighting in their parking lot and lax police presence make that very obvious.

I'm curious to see what Doug Drybek's kid, Kyle, is going to do for the Blue Jay's this year. Doc Gooden redux?
