AG Holder will announce today that KSM will be tried at Gitmo under military commission instead of the NYC public trial that Obama had asked for. Wonder if he's scared about his reelection chances.

About the only real option left, after the panic screams that were raised when they suggested he was tried in NYC.

Sure, Holder is grossly incompetent.
Holder took Ghailani to trial on 285 counts got a conviction on 1.
That is batting .004% would you want Holder on your team?
Less political damage to go ahead with Military Tribunal, it is pretty much a canned approach.
Obama can not afford that kind of political damage of loosing all those trials with Holder at the helm.

Okie

Politically, there was no other real choice. A Military Tribunal can more carefully limit any public disclosures of 'secret' evidence, limit some defenses such as any involving alleged torture, you don't have to worry about who you have in the jury, they will be military officers who can be well protected. The site on Gitmo means very strict limits on the press and as to access to appeals. Defense attorneys can be very carefully controlled as would be any evidence they would have access to. The accused is also in a very secure facility.
There is no doubt in the court of public opinion that he is guilty of mass murder and will face execution. Problem is our dithering around for years on going to trial with KSM presents significant conflicts as to our Constitutional and/or human rights agreements the USA is part of.

Funny how the usual suspects never saw this post.

Also funny how those guys bash their opponants, some of the more respectable members always post in reply and don't just ignore the issue altogether.

Ah well - better to ignore things than to risk saying you were wrong or voted somebody who did something wrong or didn't quite 'get it'!

The above post is my opinion. Don't like it? Don't read it.

About the only real option left,

It's been the only real option for quite a while now. The lame duck session attached a provision making it illegal to bring the detainees into the country for a civilian trial. Holder is only now realizing there is no way around it. A shame its taken this long considering KSM and others were ready to plead guilty a couple of years ago for their crimes at a military tribunal in Gitmo.

I don't believe he is ... he knows America has changed , he sees the power of the unions , the power of the left wing ground operations and I believe he knows what it means. I believe he also sees the weakness in the opposition and is laughing all the way. Obama will easily raise another billion dollars from all corners of the earth , unions and big corporations ... he is sleeping just fine.

The issue of the KSM trial was a political tactic I like to call the toe step... they step on your toe , you look down in time to loose sight of the hammer coming on your right side. Everybody hyperventilated over the KSM issue , meanwhile they tried to push cap and trade .. health care ... secret ballot.. etc right though while your looking at your toe. The Liberals are better politicians than conservatives and people in America fall for the nonsense every time.

All the while wasting more time. This should of been done already.

Add in these trials and the Patriot act and his batting average just keeps on slumping.
