Now I am desensitised to most acts of human cruelty after years of exposure to the occasionally twisted human condition, however, there are still cases that raise my eyebrows, and this is one of them
In summary, you may recall the tragic Queensland, (Australia) floods from a few months back. There were about 20 deaths, the most widely reported being a young boy stranded on the roof of the car with the rest of his family, who insisted on his younger brother being saved first. Whilst the younger brother was saved, the older brother and his mother were swept to their deaths.
Now, the "saved" brother has become the target of some sort of harrassment campaign, to the point of being bashed by a gang, breaking his collarbone.
How can this be and are these people of a different species? I can't comprehend what goes through their minds!!

Human mind are capable of the worst things. I guess the community members that attacked and bullied this family were just envious for all the media attention (heck, that story made Toowoomba famous here as well, and I bet any sum that hardly nobody has ever heard of it). Moreover, perhaps, they might have thought that Rice family was making money out of this story, despite this idea sounds really incredible and stupid to my ears.
About the boys attacking Jordan Rice's brother.. well, cruelty can happen among youngsters, they're still developing and need somebody to teach them the proper values. I guess some time in a reformatory or some serious scolding would do just fine.
Sadly I have seen the dichotomy of extreme human behaviour up close here in Christchurch. I have seen the selflessness of many and at the other extreme the low-lifes who were looting or posing as EQC officials to gain entry to people's houses to rob them.
It's a sad fact of humanity that there are some out there with no scruples whatsoever.

Sadly, this sort of behaviour is all too common. Following the dreadful bush fires in Victoria, some low lives stole the collection tins put out in pubs. Others have sought to take advantage of donations and Government assistance by wrongfully claiming to be victims of the floods. It is this sort of selfish behaviour that makes it harder on those in genuine need and make some people distrusting when it comes to raising donations and support.
In this cowardly attack, television news this evening reported that the oldest of the cowards was twenty-two, hardly a boy and one who should know better. It was also reported that the cowards boasted about it on social media sites.
