The House that Hef built is putting all its magazines -- from the inaugural December 1953 issue with cover girl Marilyn Monroe, to the current one with rock heiress Lizzy Jagger -- into an online searchable database.

Playboy Enterprises on Thursday announced a subscription service that provides online access to every page of every issue, giving readers everywhere the chance to catch up with those, um, fiction excerpts, interviews and investigative articles.

I'm 66 and I can remember riding my bike to a certain drugstore in town" to buy the newest edition.

But $8 month is more than I'm willing to pay to for the pitcture.

ANd, yes, I bought it for the pictures. But I did read some of the articles.

The only Playboy that I ever bought had my Brother and his daughter in it. She was Playboy of the month. She is now married and has two children.

My Nephew in California, called me, he told me that my brother, his Uncle was in Playboy. I said Huh! He told me to get the copy and call him back, after I read it. I bought and read it, there was my brother, along with his cousin, my niece. I was dumbfounded, I knew nothing about it. He laughed his fanny off, when I called him back. Needless to say, it was a big surprise to those who watched her grow up. She is back home now for years, we see her on a regular basis, it seems like nothing now, a big scandal in our family and neighborhood then. Every once in awhile, it is mentioned by guys I worked with, when we get together. My brother was fully clothed, from a high school picture, when he won Best Dressed in his class.

Seems like most people would pay the $8 for the month, see all of the specific pictures they want to see, and then cancel the subscription.

I envy the young man of today. All that high quality porn on the internet, just a few clicks away! I remember many late night visits to the petrol (gas) station to purchase Playboy / Penthouse. What an effort, trying to time your entrance so there were no other customers around. Trying to keep cool and as you looked at the cashier and handed your money over the counter. We had to put in physical effort to get pictures of naked women    !

It should be interesting to see the evolution of feminine personal grooming via pics of the "Playmate Of The Year" from 1953 to present. You'd see "full pelt" gradually give way to the "lowrider/half-pelt" which would then recede to the "landing strip" and finally disappear altogether with the advent of the "Brazilian". Where else but with a giant stack of Playboys spanning nearly six decades could one observe and document such a phenomenon?

My lovely lady bought me a book with every Playmate of the Month from the first issue thru 2007. Indeed the grooming evolution over time is interesting to see, at least since the early 70s when grooming (or lack thereof) was first observable.

Actually I think we had it better. I can remember trying to figure out how they would pose the next Playmate. After a record (78's IIFC) and a pillow I figured they would be all out of options for Props.

Last I say one it was nearing the GYM Monthly approach.

I did work with a guy in Australia who had a UK mate sending him copies of his Page 3 daughter. (thesun.co.uk for those who don't know Page 3. The father was a bit proud, but even the Aussies aren't as prudish about breasts as we seem to be.

Indeed, I used to (secretly) snatch my uncles Playboys, not for the pictures, but for the reading... Pictures were but a bonus I could have gotten elsewhere.

Isn't that the proper use? Or did I happen to use a doube entendré? Bear with me, I am not a native speaker, if quite experienced.

Somewhat dated colloquial term for a woman's pubic region - as well as, formally, the action to quickly grab something.

I don't recall ever purchasing a Playboy...hell I don't think I've even looked at one. As others have mentioned, technology is great.

Playboy was much better back in the 70s because they women were not shaved. Also the magazine featured a lot of ads and articles for high-end audio equipment as well as sports cars, photography equipment and even private aircraft.

Has any U.S. President appeared on the cover?

Just wondering how your brothers cousin can also be your niece, surely she's also be his niece and your cousin, heck even that's wierd, some inbreeding going on here?

I know I had a subscription in college just for the hell of it, but it's a fairly crappy magazine in my mind. I definitely cancelled it after a year (or rather, didn't bother to renew it). There's really no point to it anymore. Plus, I noticed my female friends looking at my Playboys more than my male friends.

Ah the differences in our age shows, Superfly. I think that's why they were nasty back then!

It was late, I think, poor wording by me. My Nephew as mentioned, called me, my Brothers daughter is his cousin. If you reread, you will get the picture. It was about pictures after all.

Actually I think it was better when you didn't know. The change to GYN shots is, IMHO, pretty gross. In the "old days" the boobs & bums were easily sufficient.

And, as a friend's grandfather told him, "son, there is something down there that you are really going to enjoy - just don't ever look at it too close."

25 KiwiRob : I think's it's pretty cool, I wonder if Heff banged her, that would be an interesting story!

28 WarRI1 : Something that I have never dwelled on. My lips are sealed on that one. When it comes to family, I do not divulge much. Just enough.
