How terrible it must have been to be talking to elementary school children in Florida, then being taken to a secure location. This is a very emotional photo IMO. I wonder what was going through his mind when that man in the photo first told him. Any thoughts?

Have you heard him speak? Apparently there is just a lot of wind blowing around in that head.

Anyone want to guess what that guy said exactly? It was a pretty quick whisper.

The man whispering to Bush is Andrew Card, his chief of staff. Bush had been told before entering the school that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. This was just a few minutes after the first impact, and apparently Bush was told that it had been a small plane and appeared to be an accident. He figured it was no big deal and began speaking to the class.
In the exchange shown in the picture, Card told Bush that a second plane had struck and that it looked like a terrorist attack. Bush spoke to the class for a few more minutes, made a brief public statement (the one in which he referred to the "folks" who had carried out the attacks), and then left for AF1.

"Let me think about it" = the coward's way of saying "no"

To me, it's a look of utter increduality. There's another photo, I believe, right after this one, where his eyes are even wider in shock. It tough trying to absorb such information on a public stage, as the president was in that terrifying moment. I can't imagine having to hear such news, and knowing you're the one who the world will be looking to.

And Greg, grow up.

"Ah hell... what do I do now? 1.) Call Dad. 2.) Call Dick. 3.) Call Colin. 4.) Call Laura, I need some new boxers. 5.) Call Arthur Anderson, get them over to the FBI and CIA buildings..."
