Unbelievable. In short, this woman was watching her 9 year old neighbor at the pool. She fell into the pool and couldn't swim - sunk to the bottom, and drowned. The 9 year old told the lifeguard, who took no action or was ignored. Two days later, they figured out somebody was down in the bottom of the pool, when some kids jumped the fence to go for a night swim and saw her.

Alright - sounds too fishy for my liking.

1) - Can't believe nobody reported a body in the bottom of the pool, and it took some kids jumping the fence at night to finally discover her.
2) - Can't believe the 9 year old didn't tell his parents or somebody else. After all, he must have walked home by himself.
3) - Can't believe this woman's five kids didn't say anything, report her missing, etc.

wtf? BS?

I am gonna say BS on this one.
You can't miss a body on the bottom of a pool. No Way, no how.
I think this was a home drowning and a dump for money. An autopsy should show how she died.

I live here, in Fall River, where the body is found. It's not BS. It's true. The pool is amongst the deepest in MA (12 feet), and the water was very very cloudy (I saw it when I drove by). It really is a tragedy, and I can tell you the city and state are outraged as to how public health inspectors didn't find this

You forgot the pool inspector that was there twice with the body still in the pool.

Well, maybe my family is odd, but I think I would probably have reported my mom as missing if she "went to the pool" and didn't come back for two days when I was younger.

Same with the 9 year old kid.... you don't just walk away from something like that. I would think if that happened to me when I was 9, I'd be freaking out, and cause a hell of a commotion if the life guard didn't do anything. And the kid just goes home...?

Like I said, maybe my family is odd and I just don't understand how normal people operate, but.................

The group of friends that went with the mother and her children to to pool "assumed" she went off with the other group of people she was talking to. Perhaps the other parents suggested that they leave, and told her children that she went out with other people?

If it's true, the whole pool staff and inspector should be fired and charged with neglect. 12 feet is not deep enough of a pool to not be able to see bottom. If the chemicals caused it to be that cloudy then the pool should have not been in operation.

Exactly. It's mostly teens that work there they should have a more professional staff that does an adequate job of following health protocol and procedures. This is ridiculous...and I'm sure the pool won't be open for a while. Also, the pool gets VERY busy during the summer, so it's possible that people were just ignorant and weren't looking or frankly just didn't care about her.

Does the pool management know about CHLORINE??? Very bizarre story - if true, the family of the deceased women will make millions on the lawsuit against the government....

Chlorine levels were tested, and came back with normal amounts.

Here's what I don't understand about this whole story, who in the world swims in a public pool with cloudy water? Even if you're told that chlorine levels show normal, do you really want to swim in water that isn't clear?

It's a state-run pool, and the location of the pool is in a lower-income part of Fall River. I live in Fall River, but not near that place. I'm would not have even gone close to that pool. I read in the local newspaper that the woman was at the bottom of the 12 foot pool for two days, and visibility was no more than four feet. The pool broke state laws because pools with low visibility are not supposed to be open.
