Agreed! A few years ago I had to withdraw a fair amount of cash from an ATM in a tube station in central London (Vauxhall, in case anyone's interested!). The screen on this particular ATM was badly damaged and was hard to read, so using it wasn't easy. Eventually the transaction got to the point where I thought it was telling me I had exceeded my daily cash withdrawal limit (I had withdrawn more cash from a different ATM earlier in the day so was unsure as to whether my second withdrawal would be allowed anyway), did what I thought was to say no to any other transactions, took my card and walked away. Moments later, as I walked through the tunnel to get to the overground station, someone tapped me on the shoulder. As I turned to see who it was, they said "Excuse me, is this yours?". I looked down to see them holding out a large bundle of cash. It turns out that the ATM had allowed my transaction after all, and had spewed out my cash just as I walked away!! Thankfully the person behind me in the (very long) queue was honest enough to come after me following what could have been a very costly mistake.

Why? Obviously you don't care about karma... but you do know banks have cameras, right? If caught, you would go to prison for grand larceny.

Cash machines allow 6 seconds for you to take the money before it takes it back into the machine.

Good on the person who returned the money. There aren't too many people in this world nowadays. it's stories like this that restores your faith in society, albeit until you hear an unpleasant story.
