Ncaa Football - BCS Championship?

In less than 6 hours, the BCS will release the numbers that will decide who will play LSU in the BCS Championship Game. Who will it be? After a blowout win for Oklahoma State last night, some people have been swayed and want to see them in the championship.

And although my team isn't in the running, Go K-State!

Since LSU has already played the only other contender, Alabama, and won, I think it almost has to be Oklahoma State, if it's to be a legitimate effort to define a "champion."

Ok sour grapes first
Looks like incest in the SEC

Depends on how you look at it
If you compare OSU loss to Iowa State compared to Alabama's loss to LSU then Alabama comes out on top.
If you look at it by the amount of points scored against opponents then OSU comes out on top
If you look at the defense stats then Alabama comes out on top. OSU has had a lot of points scored against the team.

Disappointed, sure.

So it looks like the Big 12 Champion OSU will play Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl.

Okie

I wish it was OSU in the title game. So sick of the SEC. Impressive that Georgia denied LSU any first downs during the first half yesterday.

My UW Badgers will get smoked in the Rose Bowl this year...Oregon is pretty solid. Watching the Badgers on specials and defense is enough to drive a man crazy. Starting to think we have a defensive coaching problem. I think the current coordinator came from Michigan, so that explains it.

Oh, and Monte Ball for Heisman! Something crazy like 38 touchdowns on the season, two away from Sanders. No doubt he will get those two at the Rose Bowl.

So we beat on against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

I think the BCS got it right. LSU and Alabama are the two best teams in the nation in my opinion. I wish the BCS did not have a rule that allowed only two teams per conference. I think my Razorbacks deserve another sugar bowl bid. Especially considering we are ranked higher than both teams in the sugar bowl. Oh well, the cotton bowl will be a good game. As long as our offense comes to play I definitely like our chances.

Alabama already had their chance to take down LSU. Oklahoma State should be in the championship game.

Also, Virginia Tech to the Sugar Bowl???? What a total load of crap. The lost their conference title game by four touchdowns. That should be Boise State in that BCS slot.

I refuse to watch either the championship game or the Sugar Bowl. I've never wanted a playoff more than I do right now.

I'm no fan of Bill Schneider but I do like it when K-State has a successful football team...except for one day a year when they play Mizzou. They did a great job turning the program around this year and putting themselves in the conversation early for a top bowl game.

OSU earned a trip to play LSU for the National Championship this year. No better illustration why there's an SEC bias with the voters than Alabama getting a second chance. OSU had a tougher schedule and 'Bama only beat 3 teams with a winning record. As a Mizzou fan I can't wait to enjoy that bias next year when we go to a bowl game.

As a mostly non-bias football fan I agree 100%. OSU looked stunning in their last game.

Although, you could argue that the OSU/Oregon game will at least be a hell of a lot more interesting than watching a repeat of the last time LSU/Alabama played. There will be offense at least. This might be the lowest rated NC game since the BCS was created.

Who came up with this idea anyway? Since the BCS was conceived so that we would "end up with a definitive National Champion" to make the argument for a football playoff moot, it has totally failed.

That would be a nice matchup......but OSU gets Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl. Oregon plays Wisky in the Rose Bowl. Only two BCS games I might watch.

And, it would be a great matchup, but we'll never know with the current situation. Nice catch, I forgot OSU/Stanford are playing, but even so that game should be a much more interesting then LSU/Alabama.

I was hoping for an OSU - LSU matchup. My father went to LSU and sister + brother-in-law to OSU.

Overall I believe that would have been the best game possible in terms of watching.

I saw the LSU-Alabama game and the goal line interception was the best play of the game. A good game if you like in-your-face defense on both teams, but high scoring games, IMO, generate more viewers, and the viewers staying with the game until the end.

At least now I can go with both LSU and OSU winning. I even have some hope for OU - and would hate to be on the team that will play them. Like Alabama, OU is going to come out to prove themselves.

Won't disagree. The Big 12 was good this year.

If you're interested, here's how the coaches voted:
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/colle...-coaches-ballots/51647436/1?csp=hf

I'm disappointed Gary Pinkel voted 'Bama above OSU, but Mizzou is headed to the SEC and I'm sure that had something to do with it. Saban voted OSU at 4, shocking

Very much hoping Okie State would get it. Big XII bias or not, I feel like their resume as a whole was better than Alabama, except for their one loss. But I understand how it works, so we'll be seeing a rematch.

To the Sugar Bowl, I don't know what the heck they were thinking. Should be headed down to MSY in January, but we'll just have to settle with the Cotton Bowl in DFW. Will be an excellent game with Arkansas.

From what I have read it seems they feel the TV draw would have been slightly between with Virginia Tech. It would have been pretty neat to see a KSU/WVU match up as a prelude to the Big 12 next season. However it is complete BS that two lower ranked team got at-large slots. KSU should have got one and the other to Boise State. Yeah they didn't play really anyone...but they are #7 in the BCS for a reason. KSU came out #2 in the top conference of the year.

The Cotton Bowl will be played in Cowboy Stadium at Arlington, Jan 6, 7pm (Kansas St vs Arkansas)
but the
The TicketCity Bowl will be played in the Cotton Bowl on Jan 2, 11am (Penn State vs Houston)

Cowboy Stadium sounds like a better venue with a lot more seats than the Cotton Bowl has.
Should be a good fit with both Arkansas and Kansas within one day driving distance of Dallas/Arlington/Ft Worth area.

Okie

I read on the ESPN bottom line, a few coaches really jacked around with their voting. Not quoting, but something like the Boise St coach had Michigan at 15... Nick Saban had OSU at 5? What a crock.

K-State got the shaft, just like my Gamecocks. They really need to do away with "Automatic Qualifier" bids to BCS Games. Let the top 10 teams play in BCS Bowls.

The difference between KSU and South Carolina is that KSU was eligible for an At-Large spot. South Carolina was ineligible because a single conference can have no more than 2 teams in BCS games. I don't get why they chose Virginia Tech for an at-large over KSU, the Big-12 is a better conference than the ACC and KSU is ranked higher.

So I am looking at my local daily tattler and I see 35 Bowl Games (70 teams) Many with 6-6 records
So is the NCAA count somewhere along 129 or so schools?
Looks like about a 50% chance to get a bowl game, even if it is not a BCS bowl. Then I noticed this

Idaho "Potato" Bowl
Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl
Little Ceasars "Pizza" Bowl
Chick-fil-A Bowl
Outback Steakhouse Bowl
Frito Lay Tostitos Bowl
Sugar Bowl
Orange Bowl

then the irony

The Fight Hunger Bowl
