I'm pretty positive that everyone here hates that film, due to obvious inaccuracies, unrealistic plot, and the sheer gall of trying to make a parody of aviation.

Well yes we all know how unrealistic the film is, but getting past that though it is a film which makes you laugh.

Surely you can't be serious!!

I think it was a pretty good parody overall. Inaccuracies? You mean the autopilot is not really a big blue inflatable guy that likes fellatio???

I still laugh my ass off. Julie Haggerty sounded and looked lilke a young lady I came close to marrying back in the 80's. Which would have done in my parents.

The unsung hero who I thought stole the show was the late Steven Stucker who played the Gay air traffic controller. I have some fellow crewmembers/friends that could do justice to his legacy if Airplane was ever remade.

I'd love to play Captain Over but insead of the boy and gladiator races, I'd have 18 year old leggy big breasted hotties in the cockpit. Do you ever dress as a schoolgirl with pigtails and a micro plaid skirt? I love flexi girls and cheerleaders; say rah rah for your captain Over.    As Beavis would say Booiiiiing

Frankly, I find it to be a racist, offensive, movie best left back in the racist era it was produced in. No different than Archie Bunker, and his All In The Family, really.

You are entitled to your opinion. Reminds me of whats 1 mans meat is another's poison. I for one find dreck like the Office and 99.9% British humor as funny as staring at a bar of Ivory soap. But hey, I am a Howard Stern fan and embrace Beavis and Butthead back on the air. I'm curious to hear your spin on Stern and the two funniest fuckups only behind the Three Stooges with Curly.

Even for those PC folk you have to laugh at how this movie lambasted all the cliches of airline disaster flicks!

Racist? Excuse me but I have not found anything really racist about it.
If anything it makes fun of everyone and everything. I personally like the part when they ask Air Israel to clear the runway or the part with the girl and her taking her men black like her coffee!

I believe the movie skewed was The Zero Hour Not an Arthur Hailey tour de farce.
Of course, I got high just watching Julie Haggerty service the Auto Pilot.

Yes, I first saw Airplane!, when I was I believe in preschool. I love the part when Robert Stack said they have no instruments, then Ted, Elaine, the DR and the F/A was playing jazz in the cockpit, or a 707 that sounds like a prop or Barbara Billingsley talking jive. I love the TWA 747 crashing into the terminal.
I have to give it the Zucker bothers mother, Charlotte Zucher, she put her face thew some stuff for sons movie. First, she had lipstick smeared all over her left side of her face, then she had eye shadow smeared down her face. I know she could not wait to wash all that off.

I believe this movie was made a two years before TWA retired their 707s fleet, so this was a like one last look at an TWA 707 in a movie.

Best.....movie.....ever.

Steven Stucker was funny, but really the very funniest character of all for me was Lloyd Bridges..."Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!"

It's people like you what cause unrest!
