Vixen, Prancer, Doner and Blitzen, on Dasher and Dancer, on Comet and Cupid, Rudolph

I had doubled up on Dancer and left out Vixen. Still didn't have to check though.

Dancer, Prancer, Rudolph, Donner, Dasher, Dopey, Sleepy, Alvin, Theodore, Stephanie, DJ, Meg, Chris, Doc, and Cartman.

So no, I can't.

EDIT: So since I followed the rules and didn't read anyone's posts, I didn't realize Seb146 had done basically the same thing.

Ah well, great minds think alike. Or at least, mediocre minds think alike.

On Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen; Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen. And obviously Rudolph.

I think that's the correct order in the song. I had to sing the line several times to myself to remember Prancer's name.

After watching Jingle All the Way every Christmas, eventually something is bound to rub off:
Dasher Dancer Prancer Vixen Comet Cupid Donner Blitzen...and Rudolph...

Of course, there are back up reindeer like Elvis, Joseph, Paul, and Ringo!

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder (not Donner; to the best of my knowledge none of the reindeer were ever forced to eat their fellow reindeer while snowbound for an entire winter in the Sierra Nevada mountains), Blitzen, and Rudolf.

Ta-daa!

So, what do I win?

Oh, wait a moment, I think I may have got things slightly wrong there

Nope, it's Donner, from the 1823 poem A Visit from St. Nicholas aka 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Whoops, I may have to retract that statement. Apparently it originally was Donder, although in the song Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer it is Donner.

Quote:
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and call'd them by name:
"Now! Dasher, now! Dancer, now! Prancer and Vixen,
"On! Comet, on! Cupid, on! Donder and Blitzen;
"To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
"Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

According to Donder.com the very first edition of the poem called the last two reindeer Dunder and Blixem.

Personally I prefer Donner because that then makes them Thunder and Lightning.

Also often forgotten is Brian the Brown-nosed Reindeer. He could run as quickly as Rudolph but he couldn't stop as quickly.

I thought "dunder und blixem" ment "thunder and lightning.

That must be the year he took out that sponsorship deal?
That was the year he left a comments card with a toll free number.
I didn't know any of his reindeer had names. I know Rudolph. When did that start?

Donner and Blitzen, if it's supposed to be German.

Which raises the question what Vixen is supposed to mean in this context.
