If I can save at least one member of our extended A-Net family from making the same costly mistake this thread has accompolished it's intention.

Last September I signed up for Sprint 3/4G Internet. I was told my plan was Unlimited I open my E-Mail and this is what I received regarding the Unlimited Plan I enrolled in.

As of 01/08/12 at 044054, you have used 4136963Kbytes of your 5294080Kbytes monthly Sprint 3G/4G Data allotment. If you exceed the monthly usage cap, you will incur overage charges of $.05 per MB until your usage is reset on 01/27/12.

Tips:
• Monitor your usage often to avoid overage charges by signing into your account at sprint.com.

• You can calculate how usage in kilobytes aligns with your plan allowance using these values:
1MB = 1,024 kilobytes
1GB = 1,048,576 kilobytes

I called Sprint. A Customer service representative transferred me to an overseas technical support rep. He told me I do not have an unlimited plan. This inquiring mind wanted to know what I could do to remedy this. His response:
Don't go online until your next cycle! And, my $96 per month bill is due by January 19, 2012. The usage cycle resets itself on January 27, 2012!
He then transferred me back to another Customer Care rep. and the phone rang and rang. I gave up redialed and got a sweet customer service rep. I was mad but, I know from working as an airline rep that you get more with honey than vinegar. So I was expressing myself that I was mad at the company policy not her. She told me Sprint surprised their department with the change to cap Internet usage. We, the customer were never notified by phone or E-Mail. This usage message was my first notification. She told me they are experimenting. Well Sprint this demonstrates that you take advantage of your customer base/subscribers.So, if you think you are going to sign up inquire, recheck, and double recheck before you sign up for this lack of service. BTW, I can cancel at any time but I'd have to pony up $200 to cancel. I knew about the cancellation penalty when I signed up but, I never thought I'd be treated like this.
In addition I have a Sprint Phone Connect device for my home phone and I've had nothing but trouble with it. I'll spare you the details but it's not working the way it's supposed to!

Same old story with US Mobile carriers. It sucks and fell for you for i have had my share with this type of situation before.
Now, have you considered bringing this issue up on the social network circuit? So that more people would be alerted and be aware of what's going on? It may - or may not - help you.
Just a thought. Good Luck.

You better believe it. I already posted on Facebook (main SS network) and tweeted on Twitter. Also I posted on a complaint site:

I was reading the fine print with sprint recently. They advertise that they are the only network with truly unlimited data. But the fine print states that using "premium" sites (gaming and video) is NOT included. So there goes the unlimited data.

I am grandfathered with ATT in an unlimited plan. But they contacted me saying that if I am in the top 5% of data users, my speed will be slowed down from 3G to 2G once I get into the top 5% each month. Ridiculous.

Was about to say that about the Sprint ads. Never read the fine print. So in the end, they are the same as everyone else. I doubt someone can exceed their limit with surfing, chatting and facebook!

But, I noticed when I was last on the Internet with my rip off plan, that the numbers kept jumping like the meter of a NYC cab. On sites like Facebook and others you get pop up video sites that come on like gangbusters which runs up the meter. Some of these unwanted video pop-ups are hard to close or have a time limit. Whats the use of high speed Internet if you have to pay a premium to watch you tube, hell even videos on news sites or other streaming material. Might as well have a cheap ghetto dial up plan and for the bandwidth intensive videos take my laptop to a Starbucks, public library etc.
Again shame on you Sprint. If it wasn't for their contract breaking pro rated penalty I'deep six them in a hypersonic minute.
It seems Sprint would rather have the quantity of dupes/customers such as myself who don't renew instead of fosterning a loyal and satisfied customer base. They are banking on out of 100 duped customers that maybe 5 of us read our E-mails, and go merrily on their way until they are surprised with a $500 bill. Sprint loves pumping up those charges. I feel sorry for their employees as they are in for a rude awakening when more sucker customers call and raise hell!

Have you considered going to Small Claims Court? You´d be surprised how quickly a company like Sprint will try and make you happy once they receive the citation.

You can argue Breach of Contract / Misleading Advertising / Bad Faith and a couple other things too technical to post here. It would help your case if you call them and record whatever customer rep. or supervisor you get tells you that is not stated in the contract you signed. Be sure to tell them you are recording the conversation though.

Thank you for the suggestion but, I look forward to going to court and dealing with lawyers and judges almost as much as getting a colonoscopy! I have a date with traffic court and I've been picked for jury duty. I'll try to get out of the latter and delay the former.

I recently received a letter in the mail saying that Sprint was ending their Sprint Premier program. I wonder if they are being hit hard financially in some way and trying to recover by discontinuing these programs.

Zippy, do you pay the extra $10 that they add to certain devices? If so, this sucks, paying extra and getting nothing in return.

What is worse, is that there is no way until it is too late to know you have gone over the fine print limits. I have Virgin's no-contract $35/month service, which is also run by Sprint. I can go on line to see how many phone minutes I have used (of a 300 min. limit) but I can't see how much of my 'unlimited' 3G data time I have used. Perhaps Sprint, as well as all other companies, need to have an app on your smart phone or online access to see how much data or text time you have used so one can budget their use. More important would be to end the false ads as to 'unlimited' and fine print, give info as to what equals a MB or GB of use.

Let us also face reality that if your are part of a group using 50% of capacity, then you should be paying closer to the proportion of your use.

Actually on the connection icon/tab there is a tab at the right hand bottom where you can see how much you used. What tics me off is the deception. Even their customer care representatives were broad sided when upper management laid this change on them. I know from working for the airline when unpopular policy changes added fees occur. However at least our company and for that matter most airlines at least in the United States tend to be upfront and prepare us for passenger's complaints and concerns.

I take it this includes visiting sites like you tube and flight level 350. Also any kind of Skype or video chat. This is the reason why many including myself would shell out the premium for 3G/4G high speed Internet. Even downloading A-Net photos runs up the meter. Also, I find it unfair that I have to pay up on or before the 19th.but, my usage doesn't reset till the 27th. And with Sprint, if you are late they shut you down1, 2, 3 and then you get screwed with an activation charge. As I mentioned I was able to get that last activation charge dropped.

It seems the new business model at least in the Internet/phone business is get a quantity of customers who probably will not renew instead of developing a rapport and cultivating their customer base for their loyalty. Down the line when Sprint files for bankruptcy which I feel will happen with their current business model Uncle Sam better not bail them out with our money!

BTW, I ran a search on Facebook regarding Sprint sucks and guess what? There were plenty of hits and Facebook pages. And when running a Google search, lets just say there were plenty of choices in regard to negative reviews and feelings.

http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-a...=79a914ef1cf0f6d4&biw=1024&bih=648

A Google search: Sprint Caps 4G came up with 3,560,000!

The best decision I ever made was switching from Sprint to T-mobile. I switched a couple of years ago due to Sprint's atrocious customer service and total incompetence. They would do things such as force me to listen to listen to some rep who would go on after not fixing what I actually called about by telling me (when I didn't even ask) that I was eligible for a new free phone, and so I'd go through with it only to find out after actually picking a phone etc. days later that that rep was wrong. Then, each other person I asked gave me a different date that I would actually be eligible. And they'd call me with marketing calls, and they could never actually solve my problems, but just put me on with some person who read scripted lines and had no idea how to fix anything.

T-mobile customer service was like night and day.

Course, I don't even have a smart-phone...and T-mobile may not be around much longer. But still, I can say how much better it was for me...

It's people like you what cause unrest!

I won't have to worry about this so far! Why? Because with my Sprint Connect doohickey POS I'm not getting incoming calls! My phone (s) don't ring. Now, since they put in this rip off cap deal I got my second weekly E-mail (Sunday) that shows my usage and guess what? Over the river and through the woods to rip off land I go. I have to pay those you know what my $95 monthly bill. I just may insert a few choice thoughts with my payment. Thank God I have a laptop. I'm back to loading it up and taking it to public hot spots again. The only time I go online with the NOT network is when I check my daily traffic reports right before I embark for BWI. Can't even get to my flexi girls, nubile cheerleaders, high arched minx's where you can taxi a 747 under their high arches. And you tube with my oldies play-lists? Fuget about it as they say in New York. If only the be my latrine web site had free online postcards I'd send them to the upper management and CEO of this criminal company.
