Sarah Burke died on Thursday from an injury she received while training in the super pipe in Park City, Utah. This is tragic news for the ski community. Sarah Burke was a leader in women's free skiing, and a likely contender to win Skiing Super pipe in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. I was lucky enough to have had the chance to ski with her a few years ago at Momentum Ski Camp. She was an extremely nice, caring person. She truly inspires me.
Here is an article about the injury: http://espn.go.com/action/freeskiing...-burke-dies-injuries-suffered-utah
As well, her injuries generated a substantial bill which the public as well as one of her sponsors has reached out to help her family cover. More can be learned about that here: http://www.torontosun.com/2012/01/20...o-exceed-sarah-burke-medical-costs
