Several of the Regent hotels became Four Seasons after the company was bought by Four Seasons in 1992. The company was sold/ under new management twice after that before the Regent name became property of Formosa International Hotels in 2010.
That group owns one of the original Regent hotels, and is working to revive the 'brand'.
They plan to open two new hotels in 2012, two in 2013.
It will never be a huge brand and they operated in a very expensive, very competitive niche market. But they should survive and grow now that they have an ownership which is focused on the extra-luxury hotel industry.
