It's on the back side of "2112" (for those of us who remember vinyl) and doesn't get as many plays as it should in my rotation, because I have to be in a certain mood to play "2112". The CD I have could use a re-master. It's pretty muddy.
Playing it, I get the impression that Rush is to their era what Cream was to their era:

Mines is an audiophile series, virgin vinyl pressing from 'West' Germany. Sounds perfect.
My guess is that it was pressed in the early 1980s.
There is a Compact Disc pressing by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs.
There 7 for sale on ebay right now but they are not cheap.

I don't know.
Really?I'm kinda surprised. That's actor/promoter Bill Graham, who is very popular in SF.Famous for operating the Fillmore West and East and Winterland concert halls.Every rocker of the '60's wanted to play and record they're music like Humble Pie,Jimi Hendrix and Joe Cocker

I was never a fan of him. Bill Graham had a grudge against the band Rush and didn't want to promote them at all. Well aware of his name and his auditorium but had no idea what he looked like.

I'd add to that list The Allman Brothers and The Grateful Dead, both who have 'live at Fillmore' albums. The Dead was the act that closed Fillmore East, and the album from that three-night stand is awesome.

Quoting vikkyvik (Reply 26): One of my favorite things to do when playing drums is to try and play both the cowbell and the drumkit part - it's deceptively difficult to get right!
Many bands in the 70s had a separate percussionist that would play the cowbell.

A friend of mine can play it with his left foot using a pedal. He plays the clave this way while playing latin jazz or funk. The guy's a freak... whenever I see him play I just want to give up.

Oh I know - Charlie Watts wasn't playing both parts at the same time. Nevertheless, it's a fun challenge.
Quoting Superfly (Reply 31): Sorry but I can't find the cowbell.
It's in the live version; has been for years. Neil Peart plays the "Asian" melody on the cowbell, since Alex Lifeson is playing the main guitar part at the same time.
That little stereotypical Asian melody in that song is actually one of my least favorite Rush moments....Though knowing them, I wouldn't be surprised if they did it in jest.

A Passage To Bangkok is one of my least favorite Rush songs.
On the Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures tours, Geddy used the doubleneck Rickenbacker. I never understood why Geddy didn't play that stereotypical Asian melody on the guitar. Alex Lifeson played that on guitar in the studio.
Another thing I don't understand is why they're dedicating a song about Marijuana to Bangkok. This is one of the last places on earth you'd want to be caught with marijuana or anything classified as a drug.

It made me become a Rush fan for life. I still get goosebumps listening to that song.
Quoting PSA53 (Reply 41): Very tasty. Thanks for the turn on.i did have that LP at one time but sadly,it disappeared along with many other LP's including the Quad's.
One of my most cherished possessions is the quadraphonic 8track tape of That's The Way Of The World by Earth Wind & Fire. It's one of the best quadraphonic mixes ever recorded. That album really showcases great quadraphonic sound and all 13+ members of Earth Wind & Fire is totally badass!
Did the lady run off with your Earth Wind & Fire records?

You are correct and that is a big reason why I love cowbell songs so much. The cowbell is the easiest instrument to play but to incorporate it in to a song and to be played by a drummer while playing a kit is very difficult as you said. When bands were large in the 1970s, a separate percussionist would play the cowbell along with the bongos, temple blocks, triangle, cabasa, chimes, etc. al-la Tito Puente, Santana, Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Ohio Players.
Bands that use cowbell tend to be very talented artist.
Quoting NSMike (Reply 52): New thread idea - songs that don't have cowbell, but totally should..
The thought has crossed my mind when I've heard some songs.
I'll help you out with that but right now, it's time for me to crash.
Oh and ANOTHER cowbell song popped up in my head.
Everything But The Girl - Rollercoaster
Never mind the androgynous lead singer, some amazing talent here.

As soon as I read the title to the song, the riffs from that song just started playing through my head.
And somehow I just thought of another cowbell song: Loverboy - Working for the Weekend.

Probably should be another topic - great bands with two (or more!) percussionists.
The Grateful Dead springs to mind immediately.
My favorite current prog rock act, Izz, has two percussionists, one who does all of the above plus synth drums, another who just bangs on the drums all day.
