How Is A Pretrip Check Done On A Passenger Ship?

I have seen pre trip checks done on planes and trains, and I have helped and done a pre trip check on a bus, but I wonder how is a pre trip check done on an Ocean Liner or Cruise Ship. Yes, I was station on an aircraft carrier, but on a Navy ship, you have just a few days to pre trip the ship, but on a passenger ships, have only a day to check the ship to make sure everything is working. So how is a pre trip check done on a giant passenger ship like the Queen Mary 2 or Oasis of The Seas?
