I miss when the History Channel did history.

I miss when TLC was The Learning Channel.

And, perhaps most importantly, I miss when the Weather Channel used to do weather

Completely agree with you. I fail to see how a show about a pawn shop in Vegas is historically significant.

You do realize that now with the Internet and the rise of smartphones the Weather Channel has been pretty much rendered obsolete...

I used to work with a guy that knew Buffalo Joe fairly well. You wouldn't believe how much money he's being paid to do the show. I think it basically keep Buffalo Airways afloat (so to speak).

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

I miss when CNN, HLN, MSNBC, and FOX News reported the news.

I miss when the Travel Channel was about traveling instead of being just another food network.

Last but not least, I miss when MTV had music videos.

The publicity that this small obscure company is getting is amazing . A reality show, a book deal, recreating the dam buster raids of WW2 with a DC-4 for a tv show, even their own JustPlanes program. Their PR people must be freaking geniuses.

Probrably the same for most of those Discovery Channel shows, I wonder if Orange County Choppers would be the company it is today without the show.

EH?

Have thay gone bust then? We're about halfway through the second season of Senior vs Junior here in the UK so I guess we're a bit behind.

Sorry, I didn't know the seasons aren't shown at the same time, sorry if spoiled it.

Since I have said what I have said, I'll say that the show doesn't make it clear what happens.

They do show the local paper showing OCC filed for bankruptcy, and get everyone's reaction, but haven't said anything much since.

It's pretty clear they over-spent for the new OCC building, and the current financial climate doesn't support the custom chopper business as well as it once did.

However here, bankruptcy usually means Ch11 reorganization as opposed to Ch7 liquidation, so chances are strong they emerge as a reorganized company.

If you must know more, google/wikipedia will have the answers.

No, you've spoiled nothing my friend. I was in the back of my mind kind of expecting it, the opulence of the whole operation just looked unsustainable and the inter family litigation couldn't have done them much good financially and in the eyes of the public. would you deal with someone prepared to sue his own son? I doubt I would to be honest. The show always makes it look like everything in the Tuetel garden is coming up roses though.

On the other hand, in Ice Pilots (first 2 seasons, we'll prob get season 3 in about 3 years we're that far behind) they always make it look like old Joe is one more mishap/lost contract/MX problem away from being grounded for good.

That one I can kinda understand. I'm a huge history buff and in 90%+ of the stuff on the show, they do actually teach me a bit of history. Not on the cars of stuff, but old artifacts, etc. do teach me some history. I really do love that show. What I don't get is how The Learning Channel became just another Lifetime or WE network!

Absolutely, and it's understandable. What they should do is completely reformat, drop the weather forecasts all together, and become another Discovery-type channel (albeit with a new name). I'd probably start watching that...but I think many people either want their weather or want their TV programming, not necessarily the two intermingled.
