A sudden dose of common sense has come over Sepp Blatter as he is quoted in this story reported on the BBC website as saying:

"A World Cup that receives the best players and teams in the world should be overseen by the best referees regardless of their nationality. From now on we will call in the best, full stop, even if they come from just a handful of countries."

He's also trying to blame the referee for sending Totti off, and concedes that it was unfortunate that Italy were continually denied good goals by poor offside decisions.

Yeah, Totti should have been sent off much earlier, when he put his elbow into the Korean´s face.

The referee was either 1- paid money or 2- high, to have sent off Totti. It wasn't a penalty but it wasn't a RED CARD either.

Well, I think a yellow-red was hard, but not impossible. The ref of the Korea game was not that, Italy got cheated in the group games.
