A lot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans are not happy about Michael Bay directing a new TMNT movie even the turtles are divided according to TMZ, Brian Tichi the original voice of Leo is supportive and so is Judith Hoag aka April O'Neal, and Robbie Rist, a voice actor if the series is strongly opposed. The big controversy is according to CNN Entertainment/EW is Michael Bay is reinventing the original story so that the turtles are aliens and not derived from radioactive slime.

As an original fan of the late eighties cartoon TV series and early nineties movies, it is some what surprising to me that the origin of the story has been changed but we will see how it goes what the movie is screened, for now I don't have a serious objection but we will see how it goes in the production process.

In the end it'll be a crappy movie that crappy people will pay their crappy money to waste their crappy time on, and in the end it'll make 300 million crappy dollars and cause more crappy movies by this crappy director to be made.

Oh well, I gave up going to the movies a few years ago (with rare exception from time to time), my budget and my intellect thanks me.

Why would anybody be happy with the way Michael Bay directs any movie?
And yet, despite that, TNMT fans should be happy anyone is directing a TNMT movie at all...

Michael Bay is an idiot. He already killed the Transformers and got the story completely wrong. The only reason as to why the Transformers did so well is because Megan Fox was in it!

And the battle scenes are too hard to follow.... You couldn't tell the difference between Megatron (who was actually a gun in the cartoons, another error) and Optimus Prime when they battle.

In the cartoons, there was no such thing as Sector 7. WTH?! My point is is that Michael Bay kills...no... BUTCHERS movies.....

I suspect the removal of the reference of the creation of the TMNT's from exposure to radioactivity may be a reaction to the Japanese tsunami nuke power plant and subsequent radioactive mega-disaster of last year, that it would hurt the marketing of the film in Japan and elsewhere if they kept to the original.

The original cartoon from the late 80's and early 90's were great and the original movie was mediocre and quite entertaining with the other 2 declining in that order.

Why is Michael Bay directing a TMNT, in the comics in cartoons how much stuff was blown up to the extent of car chases and destroying cities is what he does best. TMNT is a combination of action and comedy so they should have used a different director. Bay should do a Bad Boys 3 because those a lot of things get blown up and they are funny.

I mostly agree but they got rid of her for the 3rd movie and at least the first movie was entraining and declining quality afterwarfs/

I haven't seen the 3rd one but in the second one it went very overboard. Also how would they make Megatron a gun in a live action film and make it believable.

Easy. If Michael Bay had actually watched the original cartoons, he would have known how to make this a reality. Hello, Starscream.

The storyline in the cartoon was original, but in the first movie, Micheal Bay got it all wrong. Every bit of it. That is not how the Transformers (in the movie) arrived to Earth.

Can't say i'm a particular fan of the TMNT but if i were i could understand it. You're taking the base of the story and changing it to something which fans would just feel is wrong. Let's face it, the focus is not on what the story used to be about, It's either making a quick buck without having to start from scratch with a new idea or it just shows Michael Bay has no understanding of what he's working on. Take your pick...

Different example all together but i cringed when aliens were introduced in the last Indiana Jones, it just didn't feel like Indiana Jones anymore. Other bad ideas, the movies on the A-team & Knight Rider. Can't wait for the train wreck which will be Top Gun 2 if it ever really gets to become. God, i feel old

If that were a reason i'd find it the lamest excuse ever used to cover their ass. The Japanese can handle it & besides there is so much going on in the world right now you'd have to take something into account everytime a new movie was made.

Ahahahaahahahahahaahah

Oh man you guys made me laugh so hard, especially the bolded part.

I also think TNMT has always been, still is and will still be a waste of time. It's just bad. And wrong. There's nothing good about it. It's only a personal opinion but, C'mon. That was a terrible cartoon. The movies were as terrible. And now with Michael Bay directing... ahahahahha. Oh man. I'll probably watch the movie... wasted.

Cheers

I think people forget just how lame those 80s cartoons were. Sure they were great for prebuesent boys so why would you expect a movie to be any different?

TMNT were the bomb when they were in comic books.

I admit Ill go watch it when it comes out. As long as it allows me to escape reality for 90 minutes Im happy.

Just to be clear, Michael Bay is not directing the new film. He's producing it.

I was totally a TMNT kid growing up. I loved the cartoons and enjoyed the first two movies. Although now, at 29 years old, I consider the first movie to be much, much better than the second. In fact I still enjoy the first one. It's really not bad...

What's being missed here is the fact that TMNT DOES NOT NEED TO BE RE-DONE. Period.

Same thing with Spider-Man.

And Arthur.

Y'know what, Hollywood? Just leave old movies the eff alone, okay? Come up with some original shit for once!

The sad thing is, there are thousands of original ideas being written every year. Why does Hollywood keep producing remakes? Not because they're out of ideas, but because remakes and adaptations are far more likely to make money than original ideas are (since audiences are more familiar with what they're going into). Box office numbers prove it. I don't blame Hollywood, but rather the audiences who scoop up these remakes while original films go ignored (it's not always the case, but often).

Top Gun 2

This was mentioned in a thread a while ago, and it turns out that the 2nd Top Gun is not gonna happen. Too much time has gone past and that the technology is much different than it was in 1986.

Also, Ghostbusters 3 has been shelved per imdb.com. Bill Murray backed out. Disappointed.

This is very sad, indeed. Knowing that the problem is not a shortage of ideas is extremely frustrating, and seeing things like this just make it worse.

I'd really like to see a movie series based off of each level of TNMT Turtles in Time arcade video game. I loved that game growing up.
Can't mess with cartoon canon. Come on. But the sad thing is that I'd still see it, regardless. I was fine with the transformers movies because my expectations were minimal. I just wanted to see stuff being blown up like it was the 4th of July on steiroids and some cool stunts. I didn't care about the story line or how the acting was.
