Don't know if this is possible or not, I need to keep my profile on LinkedIn visible but block people from a certain company from viewing my profile....is this possible? if so how can I do it?

If its set to be publicly visible, then you can't - LinkedIn aren't going to help you hide from one company out there...

Be Very Very careful when using the LinkedIn website - it is one the favorite internet places for identify theives to steal your identity - your work history can be used to "fill in the blanks" on you. Sometimes your former co-workers are criminals or they are (unknowingly) related to identity theifs, and these folks have access to your former co-worker's computer and probably their Linked In account. It's a good networking tool (I have used it in the past), but Linkedin has numerous privacy and user security issues.

Correct....have decided to move on and will update my profile, but do not need my current company to know about it or to know I'm changing to "actively looking"
