LIT Renamed To Bill & Hillary Clinton National Airport

Seems like the good airport fokes at my good home of LIT are more engorged in renaming the airport after a couple most in the state despise than continuing development on the new terminal. Even after multiple citizens lobbied against the name change it only took 30 minutes for a unanimous vote. Seems like the citizens of Little Rock are not that important in the states decision making. For me its more than just a name change. Its a change in image. A negative one at that.

I don't know of any other former POTUSs from Arkansas, and I think that it is just as appropriate to rename LIT after a former governor there who became a two-term POTUS as it was to rename DCA with Reagan, considering what Reagan did to the air traffic controllers.

As for these people who object, well..... it is still a free country I guess.

Thing is, Reagan was never impeached for having an affair. Hillary has no interest in the state and neither call this state home. Might as well rename LAX, Richard Nixon International. The Multi-Million dollar library was enough.

The article says nothing about the overall support (or lack thereof) of the name change amongst the Little Rock community. There are always going to people who oppose things like this, no matter who they are honoring, especially when it involves politicians. It is entirely possible that 95% of the citizens supported it and 5% didn't...would the commission then be ignoring the wishes of the citizens?

Look around. Its not that hard to find the disgust from the state. Maybe its one of those things where you have to live here. Its also entirely possible that 95% of the citizens don't support it and the airport commission is more interested in getting a donation for the new terminal they have been trying to build for the past 6 or so years. They don't live here. They do nothing for the state, but bring a negative image. Trust me when I say this, many and I mean many in Arkansas do NOT like the Clinton's. Arkansas owes those two nothing.

admins I'm pretty sure I'm being civilized and abiding by the forum rules.. Thanks for the friendly reminder.

Agreed. Especially when Hilary went off to NY and was a Senator for them. That must have made a lot of blood boil in Arkansas!

Probably not. Hillary is not from Arkansas, the only connection she has to the state is Bill.

Right, she was born in Chicago. But you get what I am saying....

I guess a lot of Illinois people had their blood boiling that she was a Senator for NY.

Are there any other decent Arkansas folks more deserving to have LIT named after them than these two gremlins??

Besides just living here for 15 years with Bill, no she has no ties to the state.

There was no reason to change the name in the first place. Adams Field was perfect. To me and I'm sure a lot of others, General Douglas MacArthur would be a better choice.

Neither was Clinton. And, IIRC, he left office with a budget surplus.

Many people around the Bay Area are upset with one guy trying to rename Mt. Diablo to Mt. Ronald Reagan. The guy halted all road work in California, busted unions and carried massive debt. Should that really be honored?

Clinton WAS impeached. He was not removed from office. AFAIK, no President has ever been forcibly removed from office by impeachment/removal.

So I suppose Hawaii should have been mad when Obama, ran for Senate for Illinois, and then won the presidency, still being an Illinois Senator, and yet I haven't seen or heard anything negative from Hawaii regarding Obama.

Not only that, but being the last Democrat so far to carry what has been GOP territory. If that's popular hatred, I'd hate to see how a revolution looks like in the US.
