Is it just me, or have there been a LOT of celebrity suicides/attempted suicides lately?

Sad.

Wow, that is really sad. I remember him as a fierce linebacker, especially with San Diego during the '90s.

He was such a huge public figure here in San Diego and such a likable member of the community. Really sad news.

Almost two years ago he had the traffic accident where he drove his SUV off of a cliff in Carlsbad.

Wonder if that was a precursor to this incident, I guess money does not solve all your problems.
He will be missed, RIP.

Interesting conversation on the local news right now. First, he's the 8th player from the '94 Chargers Super Bowl team to have died young and also they are of course bringing up the concerns about possible brain trauma from football careers being linked to many former players either commuting suicide or attempting suicide. A sort of PTSD-like situation... It is interesting.

Sorry to hear this but it does seem to be a trending problem in the NFL. Dave Duersen of the Bears and Ray Easterling of the Falcons are also recent suicides. Double D and Junior are two of my favorite players.

A great of the time he played, gone too soon. Many in his death believe that it may have had a base in game cause brain injury and that should be examined in an autopsy, but we cannot forget factors such as upbringing, psychological and mental health issues not connected with concussions and perhaps the frustration of life after glory playing days are over.

I wasn't talking specifically about football players, but you're right, that is an interesting topic.

I hope an autopsy will determine the extent of CTE and if that may correlate to his suicide.

Very, very sad when I saw this today. Never played for my favorite teams, but he was one of all time greats in the NFL. Never heard a bad word about him from anybody during his playing days.

Football loses so many of its players so young...the effects of multiple concussions and other head trauma is real, and the NFL needs to get a handle on this so that no more of its heroes dies before age 50.

RIP, Buddy.

Not just the NFL, its growing in the NHL as well and the issue is hits to the head and not just the dirty ones.

Neuroscientists think that the repeated head injuries eventually take its toll on the brain causing the type of mental health problems that lead to suicide.
