Now that I drive school buses, I see that they are pretty well built, they have rivets from top to bottom, and even the type C school buses, are built on a class 7 truck platform. Even when I pass an HRT bus, ( Hampton Roads Transit) due their low floors, I feel like I am towering over them.
In today's time, with most of the transit buses being low floor, motorcoaches with these over size glasses and windshield and school bus still almost the same as they was in the 90's, what type buses do you think are the strongest?
Motorcoaches are giant and heavy, but like I wrote, they are made of a lot of glass. Transit have gone from V8 powered New Looks to these ISC and ISL low floors, so I do not really trust their strength.

Now if this was the 60's, 70's and 80's, I know those old Crown Supercoaches school buses, ( land Battleships) with their 90'000 PSI steel, would tear the front off a New Look, 870/Metro, RTS and Phantom, in a head on collision.

All current full-size transit buses from the major manufacturers (New Flyer, Gillig, NABI, Nova Bus, and Orion) are Altoona tested for 12 years or 250,000 miles. This is longer than the life today's typical school buses.

Depends on what you mean by, "strongest." If you mean most durable, I think transit coaches are designed for the longest service life. If you mean best ability to maintain integrity after impact, school buses have to meet standards that the others don't. (FMVSS 220, 221 and 222.)
