Hey guys.
Just wondering if any of you in the 'know' can help me out. Went to the dentist a month ago with sore gums. He said my teeth are ok but becasue I had not been to a dentist for years before hand I would need a couple of cleanings done with a dental hygenist. Fair Enough.
Anyway I went for a clean 4 weeks ago, and they got alot of the crap out which was great, and I was told I had a bit of Gingivitis. My gums in between my front teeth are red rather than pink, but was told it would heal up. Bought a soft toothbrush etc like the hygenist requested.
2 weeks ago went in for another clean/scaling and was told everthing was fine, teeth are great, gums were tightening up nicely etc... very reassuring and made an appoinment for a final clean next month.
However, the gums in between my teeth are still not pink (2 weeks after the last cleaning) but rather red/dark red. My teeth feel weird and 1 gap in between my teeth in particular feels uncomfortable when my tounge runs past it. Is this normal? My teeth do not seem to be loose.
Note this uneasy feeling is only occuring in 1 gap between my teeth so I was wondering if it's something more. Just want to ask if any one has experienced similar things. How long does Gigivitis take to go away?
Note: I brush my teeth twice daily, use mouthwash twice daily and floss every couple of days.

I don't think it's a problem. Remember, your gums are tissue, just like any other part of your body. They also reside in a fairly hostile environment. They take time to heal and cleanings, professional and at home, aggravate the gums. Not to mention flossing (you do floss, right?). Give it some time.

Since you mention that you haven't had your teeth cleaned in a while, what you are feeling is what the area between those particular teeth feel like when there is no tartar built up. Rather normal after a cleaning.

I used to have gingivitis. Best thing I ever did for my teeth was buy a Sonic Ultra toothbrush. I stopped going for those cleanings and there is no more gingivitis after 8 years.

During flossage, do you get the floss all the way down to the gums? When I started flossing, my dentist said ya have to get all the way in there - it will cause bleeding the first several times - and really massage the gum tissue itself with the floss. Flossing is dual-purpose that way - gingival stimulation as well as de-gunking your interdentals.
What kind of mouthwash do you use? Listerine is the mouthwash di tutti mouthwashes. Cepacol is also good. Scope is not.
