Well, merely saying "no pun intended" isn't funny. In fact, if you make a pun intentionally and say "no pun intended", you deserve to be punched in the face (okay, perhaps that's a bit harsh, but you get the idea). Have the decency to take credit for your work, and the looks of either approval or disappointment that follow.
And yes, I do see this thread unraveling into a sequence of mediocre-at-best puns in the very near future.
