Launch of new TV Channel run solely by veiled women

Sheikha Safaa says objectives of launching this channel is to offer veiled women chance to appear on screens, empower other veiled women by activating their roles.

My first response is: Why not simply a radio station? Why do we want to see a talk show where everyone is in a black bag?

Typical conservative reaction. Stop being such a racist! Other cultures have just as much right to.....erm......

I can't keep this up. I completely agree with you- this is ludicrous.

I wish the ladies on The View would start wearing veils. Much more cost effective than cosmetic procedures. Oprah too. We can just kind of throw a sheet over that sort of thing to make it more watchable.

Presumably there are other things to show onscreen than talking heads. If their religious beliefs dictate that they wear veils, I don't see why that should keep them off TV. It wouldn't be a show or network I'd be interested in anyway. Furthermore, could this show be any worse than the McLaughlin Group?

Because it lends a certain atmosphere? I would like to see them start a show to compete with Fox's "The Five" called "The Nine". That would be worth it.

In all seriousness, though, if they want to go about it this way, more power to them. There are a lot of worse things they could be doing (or, more likely, have done to them).

I agree. Don't like it?

Don't watch it.

I'll agree that it may seem odd to us, but then again, is the purpose of a television channel for women for you to look at said women?

Cheers

Sure, we're concerned for our lives. Just not as concerned as saving 9 bucks on a roundtrip to Ft. Myers.

Really, it might be a step in the right direction for them. I think that a lot of criticism of this idea is based on anti-Islamic sentiment. After all, did anyone criticize BET?

Maybe. Think about sideline reporters. The only reason to have some woman tell me about some guy's pulled groin rather than the guy in the booth telling me is to inject some boobies into the sports action. Which, on the whole, is probably good since it balances out the fact that, for that moment, I am actually taking an interest in the condition of another man's groin.

But having a woman do the actual play-by-play always sounds to me like an angry lesbian yelling at me. I don't know about anyone else, but I got enough of that in gym class.

I think it's a great idea.

Just think, if you're a presenter and you can't come in for whatever reason, you can just call in your comments and get the crew to throw a black sheet over a cactus.
