Last night Johan Santana pitched the first no hitter in NY Mets history! It is hard to belive that it took this long with some of the great pitchers the Mets had over the years.

50 years, 8,000 games...I still remember Tom Seaver's one-hitter against the Cubs in 1969, and I doubted I'd ever see them throw one. Great job by Johan - coming off serious shoulder surgery, only the 8th time in history that the defending WS champs have been no-hit, and closing it out with a strike out - against the WS MVP, no less! Amazin'!!!

I'm a Yankee fan (clarification: not a band-wagoner, I was born in '83 and started watching Yankees baseball in the late 80s on WPIX) and I felt good for the Mets and their fans last night. What a feel-good story. This team should be at least 15 games out of first place right now, and they're putting together a solid season. A well-earned congratulations goes out to all the Mets fans. Hopefully the Isles, my true passion, can learn a lesson from the team on Flushing Bay.

Happy for the Mets organization, but that no-no has an asterisk to it with the obvious missed call in the sixth.

Regardless, congrats to the Mets from a Cards fan.

No it doesn't. It wasn't an obvious missed call - the ball was barely on the chalk, and umpires miss that call far more egregiously all the time. Doesn't take anything away from the accomplishment.

Actually, it kinda does!
(I have no dog in this fight, don't care about the Mets one way or another.)
