Hello world!
I am an aviation geek (I am sure all a.netters are) and am new to this site. I was just thinking of my vacation (which is only 5 days away! ) and was thinking if you guys have any vacations that you will be going to soon.
Here is my contribution:
-I will fly on an Air Canada 763 (reg. unknown, routing: YYZ-BCN)
-I will go on a 7-night, 8-day Western Europe cruise on the "Norwegian Epic"
-Stay in Barcelona for 2 nights, 3 days...
-...and will fly on another AC 763 (reg. unknown, routing: BCN-YYZ)

First of all: Welcome to A.net !
My next trip will be end of June heading to Manchester U.K. for the annual Meeting there, staying for 5 nights.
Flights will be 1.75 hrs nonstops on BE E170 or E190 flying HAJ to MAN and back.
While in the U.K. I will fly an open jaw daytrip LPL - BFS on U2 followed by BFS - LBA on LS for the pure fun of exploring airports new to me.
Enjoy your stay in Barcelona; it will be a memorable one, as the city just has so much to offer to tourists.
The Sagrada Familia is a must-see, at least from the outside.
If time allows head for Placa Espanya after 8 pm and walk up towards the Magic Fountain; listen to the music and marvel at the dancing fountains (in case you have seen the display at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, then do expect something quite different. Keep in mind that the Magic Fountain is much (!) older.)
If your family and you would like to see some typical architecture of Spain (and not just from Barcelona resp. Catalunya), pay a visit to the Poble Espanyol on the foot of hill "Mont Juic", not too far from the Magic Fountain.
In the evening it is fun to stroll trough the small streets and passages off the Ramblas and see how locals (and tourists) flock out to almost each bar or restaurant available. Keep in mind that dinner usually does not start before 2130h.
If you are tired of the city (or if it is too hot in the city), consider to head to the beach of Casteldelfels. Trains run from Sants Estacion (railway station) all the way to the beach. Alight at "Platja de Castelldefels" (one stop after "Castelldefels), but check that the train of line R2 actually stops there. Trains from Sants should leave at minutes 15 and 45 after the hour.
From station "Platja de Castelldefels" you can smell & see the beach & sea, so no further walking directions required.

In 3 weeks we're going on a road trip to France. Staying in the Loire valley just outside Tours, where my wife is presenting at a conference - I'll be with the children for a few days, mainly visiting castles and chateaux. Then we're heading to Meaux, near Paris, to camp for a week, including a visit to Disneyland. The kids should like it, as long as they aren't too bored in the car between stops!

Hi!
Hopefully I will be driving to a place called Baden in Switzerland with my parents and aunt. My mum and dad like thermal baths and I like them too. And Swiss coffee and croissants!

Not sure if it counts as a vacation, but if I can work out the $$$, my friend in Israel is going to become a father, and I've been asked to be the godfather, so if I can save up the money and find good airfare, I'll be headed over there sometime in November/December. If I pull this off, I'd hope to be able to make up for the last trip, which I had to cut short because of my ankle.

My next vacation is actually a combo of business and pleasure at the end of July into the 1st week of August. Flying HA (of course) LIH-HNL-LAS on the B717 and A332. Have a weekend with friends and then a conference at Caesars Palace.
After that, hopefully another combo trip in September to Washington, DC most likely via DCA on AA or UA but would rather do HNL-JFK-DCA on HA and B6 just for the hell of it.

Yes - Going to Bangkok (1 night), Budapest (7 nights), New York (3 nights), Orlando (3 nights), Turkey (1 night), Kuala Lumpur (2 nights), Brunei (1 night) - Leaving on Saturday week. - Yes in that order!
Bangkok and Brunei are pretty much overnight transit stops. Same applies with Turkey, but got a really cheap J class FRA-IST-KUL.

Happy holidays everyone !

You're doing it wrong my friend. You need more than one night in Bangkok.

Quoting planeguy727 (Reply 7): 1) A visit to Yellowstone, Tetons, and up to Montana.
Yellowstone and Tetons are next to Montana. In fact, parts of Yellowstone are in Montana and Idaho. The drive from Yellowstone to Bozeman is beautiful! We went there two years ago. That part of Idaho is very conservative, but, other than that, it is great!
Quoting Superfly (Reply 14): You need more than one night in Bangkok.
But, one night in Bankok makes the hard man humble. Also, one night in Bankok makes the tough guy crumble...
Our holiday is coming up in a few weeks. We are driving to STS to ALW. Hopefully, my mom will have been moved by then. I hope we can squeeze in a side trip to Trail, British Columbia. I have wanted to go there for decades. That would involve us going through the city I hate most of all: Spokane. I can't wait for that one...

Quoting Superfly (Reply 2): I've travelled a lot but I feel I need to penetrate Brazil
If you're intending to penetrate some Brazilian ladies you'd better hit the gym, they like their men lean and muscular, they don't like them Lincoln Town Car plush.
We did the Western Med last year and I'll do it again if we see some really good prices. I have the FF miles to get to Europe and can be ready to go in hours.
The other trip we want to make is a river cruise in Europe. I have FF miles for that also - and a lotos hope.
We did NYC earlier this year for some shows and that was really good. Saw Rock of Ages and Anything Goes. Both worth the stiff price.
The only thing booked is Branson with the grandkids for 4 days, starting tomorrow. Since it is only a 4 hour drive it is realistic to have season passes to Silver Dollar City.

Squeeze and I are going to go to YVR next month for a week. Mandatory visits to my brother and her sister, but otherwise we plan to be tourists. Do the sights, lunch on Grouse Mountain for one, couple of good dinners, will try to hike through Capilano Park and also try to find a zipline outlet (anyone knows of one, pls IM me).
She doesn't know it yet but I am collecting info on St Lucia for next winter, two weeks, the complete libretto.
