Gee, and I saw this marriage going all the way....

So now that her likely contractual obligation as a professional celebrity beard has come to a close, will Katie Holmes:

A. fade into relative obscurity with millions of dollars

B. muddle around in a few movie or TV roles, with no real meaningful success

C. shoot to superstardom on par with the likes of other Hollywood leading ladies her age

D. fall victim to a random, senseless act of violence for seemingly no reason, leaving her child without a mother

E. go back to some semblance of a "normal" life (at least as far as Hollywood is concerned).

You mean like her career has been since she married Tom Cruise? She was in the last Batman movie and that's about the biggest thing she's done since she married him.

They always seemed to be a bit of an odd couple anyway (wait a minute, that describes his marriage to Nicole Kidman as well). Katie Holmes at times seemed to look a bit robotic, as if she were a real-life Stepford Wife, in this case programmed by the "Church" Of Scientology. I'm sure there are guys willing to "deprogram" her......

I never thought this marriage would last mainly over the Scientology cult she never could accept. One story is that Holmes didn't want the child raised in Scientology, but rather in the Roman Catholic faith she believe in prior to her marriage to Cruse. She is seeking sole custody of Suri. I also suspect like with his previous 2 wives, that while initially attracted to his looks, Hollywood connections and some personality factors but in the end his excessive control of them eventually making them want to leave. She was not young when got married (29?) and it was her 1st marriage. Of course there are the constant rumors (as with fellow Scientologist John Travolta) of bisexuality.

Ms. Holmes' attorney made an interesting decision to file for divorce in NY State as unlike California divorce proceedings are kept very confidential from the public unlike California and not a mandate of a 50/50 split of assets.

To me this 'marriage' is a a good example of why many are both fascinated and repulsed by 'Hollywood' and too many 'celebs' who seems to have throwaway marriages.

Just because she looks like the gril next door doesnt mean that she is all sweetness and light. There is much more to this than meets the eye...

I don't follow Hollywood trash in general, and Tommy Boy in particular, but when I saw the video clips from his interview with Oprah when he first announced his relationship and did all that weird stuff, it struck me that he was trying to compensate for something. And the first thing that came to mind is that he is a closet homo or bi sexual. Sad, really, if he is and is trying to keep it hidden, especially in this day and age.

Katie Holmes filed for divorce primarily over Tom Cruise's fierce ties to Scientology, fearing that Tom would drag Suri deep into the church ... sources connected with the couple tell TMZ.

One would think she knew about all this before the marriage.

I honestly did not see that one coming but I sure knew that the marriage was taking a toll on her career not to mention her frumpy almost unkempt look and her physical complexion. Who knows maybe her career may take off after her divorce. The real question for Katie is, did she know what she was getting into when she was dating Tom and the intensity of his faith on Scientology?

As well as his marriage to Mimi Rogers, (who is better looking and more mature than the following two Mrs Cruise's!) who I believe described having sex with him was like having sex with a priest or something like that. Maybe our excellent A.net researchers can attest to this one.

This.

Well, there are several things going on there.

A. Tom Cruise is most definitely gay. He should come out of the closet. Funny how John Travolta is gay as well and scientologist as well and an actor as well and not out of the closet as well. See what I did there?

B. Scientology. The place where weak people end up, trying to find answers to things which don't need answers to in the first place. It ruins people. Katie Holmes just noticed it a bit late.

C. Age. She remembered that she was a fan of Tom Cruise's when she was 10. She must have noticed that she would be changing his diapers in an age where she should be travelling and enjoying herself.

Cheers

A. fade into relative obscurity with millions of dollars

I read somewhere that since she's filing for divorce in NY she's going to get something like $3 million for each year of marriage plus child support. Since he basically made all the money in that relationship, that seems fair.

Quoting srbmod (Reply 2):
You mean like her career has been since she married Tom Cruise? She was in the last Batman movie and that's about the biggest thing she's done since she married him.

I'm embarrassed to admit I really liked her in Dawson Creek. I lived in a small rural town when that show was on and I only got 2 tv stations. So, I watched it. Her kid is what 6? That might explain why she didn't appear in more movies if her daughter is that important to her.

She had to know what she was getting into. Cruise hasn't exactly hid that he's a flaming scientologist. Maybe this is his chance to hook up with Travolta and they can be a happy closeted gay couple together.

Maybe for staying in the closet his reasons are strictly monetary. He is now a A lister who gets guarantee'd money in any action adventure movie he makes as a leading man. He has in the majority of his movies played the guy who won the day that always got the girl. Now with Hollywood being Hollywood if he came out and the tabloid press being what it is what type of macho roles would he be offered. He would go from roles like Maverick to a leading lady's gay best friend in some romantic comedy. Rock Hudson was as manly as they came but did not come out until he was on his death bed from AIDS, I know we are more enlightened in this day and time but are we going to relate it to the box office.

Hi!

I hope people just remember them for the movies they made and not for their personal lives. To me Tom Cruise wins. People love to hate him but he has entertained me a whole lot over the years. Top Gun, Cocktail, Jerry McGuire. Even the more recent Knight and Day was still good fun. I think Katie Holmes was known more for looking very very cute when younger. I never watched Dawson's Creek but I have seen a couple of her movies I've liked.

Millions of people do terrible things in relationships and get divorced and stuff in this World every day in all walks of life. Most people get away with it too except celebrities. I wish them both well.

Mmm, I don't know, Tom tried two Catholics, Nicole Kidman, she did not want to convert so he moved on to someone younger and more gullible, Katie Holmes, did convert, lasted 5 years. Kate Upton, I guess, she is young and a relative clean slate, she dances in her little bikini for Youtube. I also had in mind Miley Cyrus but she in engaged/married to LH, let's see how long, she too is young, hot and is not known for making wise decisions, hell make it Miley.

Who cares if Tom Cruise is gay/bisexual. So long as not doing something illegal or unethical (like giving sex buddies first dibs for jobs on films) or is giving in to to extortion to avoid being outed, then it is none of our business. He is not a governmental employee or official like for example ex-NJ Governor McGreevy who put an apparent male sexual 'friend' of questionable qualifications in a critical state 'homeland security' state level appointed position and got forced to resign over it.
If indeed he is homosexual or bisexual, it would be much better to 'come out', as far more honorable and in the long run far better for his mental health. From what I have seen of those I know that have come out, yes, there can be some bad short term issues, but in the long run it far better that to hide it.

I'm surprised their sham of a marriage lasted this long! Tom Cruise is touched. Katie Holmes must have had a screw or two loose and the Scientology mafia basically sought her hout for Tom Cat! Not to rag on this religion but, I find them creepy and manipulating. Only a cut or two above Jim Jones and his freak show church. And, I still feel Tom Cruise is Gay. Sorry to my Gay friends on A-Net but...

Cruise totally snapped when he jumped on the Opra pompous moo cow Winfrey's gab fest. I hope, Katie, their little spoiled brat Suri and even Cruise can move on. They all three need some major league therapy and yesterday! Cruise could stalk Katie, abduct Suri and Katie could be hasseled physically and mentally abused by the thugs within this cult. I don't feel Cruise will be able to snooker any self respecting woman for wifey number 4. At best maybe he'd get a scum slut like Snookie, maybe a Britney Spears if she washes out with her man Trawick. Maybe Jessica Simpson if she gets her hot body back. (that's all the blonde bubblehead had going for her). Simpson is perfect for the claws of Scientology and a trophy wife for Cruise but, Jessica better get back into Daisy Duke shape and quick if she wants to be number 4.

Katie on the other hand will probably hook up with a hip hop artist. The anthesis of Tom Cruise. I could see Katie shacking up with a Kanye West or other of his ilk. Suri will probably have a relationship with a butch lady like Lindsey's fugly DJ squeeze.

Tom Cat may do some "Puzzle House" time in a high end celeb resort Puzzle House/Loony Bin.

Look for Suri to get a mixed bro or sis. Katie will do the thing most Hollywierd hot celebs do get knocked up and have an unmarried baby daddy and the schlock entertainment news shows will be all over it."Look at Katie Holme's baby bump as she is preggers with the love child of her and hip hop rapper (you fill in the thug no talent rap artist).

Mimi Rogers,

She's smoking hot...or was, haven't seen her in a long time. But man, she was fine.

As for the Cruise/Holmes divorce, it'll be interesting what the fallout is for the Cult of Scientology...

i was reading in the paper, that the chief of the scientology cult/religion actually accompanied Tom and Katie on their honeymoon...

If that happened to me, i would going to a judge to get the whole thing annulled pronto

I'm sorry, I have little respect for this cult. Katie is still a major league hottie. Tom Cruise is a whack job and this could derail his career. I'm wiaiting for the 60 Minutes expose.
