Someone forgot to turn the auto-tune on. And to provide a metronome. And to have the band start playing her off halfway through the way they do at award shows when the speeches are going on too long. Singing the US national anthem should not take more than 1:45, and that's if you're taking your time. She took almost a minute longer than that.

Of course, my fears were first aroused by the phrase "11 year old singer-songwriter". Seriously? Nobody is a "singer-songwriter" at 11. Nobody.

The version sung in Jacksonville for a USA football match v scotland back in may was shocking at best.

She was trying to do it like this and failed miserably (bless her heart).

You have to wonder that no one heard her sing before the game and told her how awful it was at that glacial tempo which only accentuated her terrible pitch problems. That girl (bless her heart) really needs a proper voice teacher. She's doing too much screaming and is going to harm her voice.

Wrong !

I don't know how much singing he did, but Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote and published his first seven piano pieces at age five.

( I have them on my iPod list if anyone cares to listen to them )

Why do people put their children up to doing stuff like this?

Sorry,I could only stand about 20 seconds of that

Did anyone else think that the anthem sung by a kid in the new batman film, was bad? I almost couldn't listen to that all the way through either.

He was a composer, not a singer. He may have sung on occasion, but that's not how he made a name for himself.

It is fortunate that this song is being "sung" in the land of the free. In some countries if you mangled the National Anthem like that they would put you out of your misery.

But what is wrong with simply singing it instead of trying put present a unique "interpretation" of it? It's meant to be an anthem not a cabaret piece.

It is a pity that the Band of the USMC can't be at every event to play it.

Ok this is awful. But I challenge anybody here to sing alone in front of a stadium. Obviously, she's scared.

I am of the opinion that the national anthem SHOULD NOT be sung.It always seems that it is more about the performer than the song. I think it should just be a recorded, toned down instrumental rendition that everyone can stomach. While I love my country,I just can't stand it when it is done poorly, and that seems to be the norm!

I'm not a big SNL fan, but this Maya Rudolph parody of today's showboat performers is both hilarious and depressingly accurate. It had me in stitches.

The infamous version of the national anthem that Roseanne Barr sang years ago isn't even worthy of me posting. That woman's performance was a complete disgrace...I'm sure it's all over YouTube if someone really wants to search for it. Makes my blood boil.
