The only claim I've seen thus far was that Dr. Evil's father invented it. (He also accused chestnuts of being lazy).
Is there any proof to substantiate or refute that claim?
It's been awhile since I've seen it, but if I recall correctly, Dr. Evil's father was from Belgium. And his mother was a French prostitute with webbed feet named Chloe.
Does this mean that the Belgians have not been given their due credit for this contribution to modern society?

Lapper. I wouldn't give him the benefit of it. Besides, I'm concerned what he would do with the "shaft" and don't want to be help liable for any problems that may result.

LOL Bruno!
I wouldn't put it past Al Gore to claim he invented sunrise and sunset as well.
