Let's see how much interest there is in an a.net 2012 NFL Thread!
We had an early kickoff to the season with DAL vs NYG. We had some folks trash talking the Cowboy's inability to find the end zone, but when push came to shove they did, and their defense shut down the inevitable Eli Manning comeback attempt with great play by their new corners.
As for my interests, I think the Patriots are set up for another great season. The defense has gotten younger, faster and has two first round draft choices starting (Chander Jones on the line and Donte Hightower at linebacker). Still, the backfield is a concern - Belichick notoriously doesn't like spending money on DBs. As for offense, they've added Brandon Lloyd, a return of Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator and have signed almost every tight end in the league! They didn't try to sign Law Firm too aggressively and he went elsewhere, and they are relying on Ridley and Vreen to try to put together something at RB, another area Belichick doesn't seem to do well with. The other concern is the offensive line where retirements and injuries have decimated the core that they've had over the last few seasons. All in all, I see another top-notch season for the Pats, with 12 regular season wins, especially given their kind schedule.

Didn't see the draft too much and unfortunately couldn't watch any of my Steelers pre-seasons other than highlights. Thoroughly annoying that the round 1 pick David Decastro will be out for a while, poor guy.
I'm hoping they can finish first or second in the AFC though their schedule looks a little challenging. Shame they missed out on getting to decide the Presidential election against the Redskins by only a week.

I was disappointed in the loss of the Giants, they just don't have a good running game right now and Dallas seems to have made some improvements.
The Jets are just beating Buffalo like a cheap drum with turnovers, great special teams play.
For my San Diego Chargers we should be greatly improved.Whatever personal problem that QB Phillip Rivers had last year seems to be behind him even though I wasn't impress with his preseason numbers.Chargers did pick up in the draft some vital defensive players that we needed to fill holes. We play Da Raiders tomorrow but every team in the AFC West will be tough.

Quoting Revelation (Reply 2): Steelers vs the Indy Broncos should be a very interesting game, and will be nationally broadcast tonight.
Ah. What a game. Manning at his best. The chess match with Polamalu at scrimmage was very entertaining. I'm a Denver Broncos fan for the record, not big on Manning but admittedly I hadn't have the chance to watch a full regular season game with him.
Speaking of trades. The Chicago Broncos seem to be doing alright. Stupid McDaniels made them a huge favor by ultimately trading Jay Cutler for Kyle freaking Orton . Chicago's best QB in ages. Heck, I think Cutler has a better chance of winning a SB than Tony Romo. Should have never left Denver
Yes, and it seemed Pittsburgh really wasn't acclimated to the mile high atmosphere. I saw a few guys just not finish out plays like they usually would. It must be tough to have the first game of the season be a road game to Denver!
Payton had a good day, and another guy who had a good day was RGIII. He already is one heckuva good player and is only going to get better! Seems Mike Shanahan has cooked up an offensive scheme that is very well suited to RGIIIs many talents. Personally I didn't understand all the hype around RGIII, all it took was one game to see what all the hype was about.
Seems like the NFC East is going to be a very interesting division this year!
To my eyes, the Patriots looked very good on Sunday. Their young runner, Stevan Ridley, is a definite upgrade from Law Firm and makes the defense have to protect against his runs. Brady was very sharp and used Hernandez and Gronkowski very well, who both had great days both blocking and catching. Lloyd had 6 catches, and misjudged one pass that was a wide open TD. With time he'll be more on the page with Brady and that will be a TD. Seems Welker is being down played in favor of Edelman after they were unable to sign him to a long term deal.
All in all, a very tough offense to defend against because the threats can come from anywhere. Seems McDaniels isn't that stupid when he has Brady running the plays and Belichick making sure he doesn't do anything too too stupid! To be honest, McDaniels had a great day of play calling. He really kept TEN off balance. You could see after the 1st series that TEN had to totally get out of their scheme to deal with all the stuff NEP was throwing at them, because their scheme just wasn't good enough to contain the Pats.
Belichick teams tend to get better as the season goes on, so I think NEP his going to have a great year!
