It's been a while since we had one of these, and since I see a lot of fresh faces on hell...er, A.net recently, I think it may be worth it to have another self-introduction thread!
Well I'll get the ball rolling:
Name- Zach K
Occupation- 3rd year Japanese Language student at ASU, soon to be transferring to Sophia University in Tokyo where I'll be an FLA student.
Non-av interests- Guitar, drums, Japanese history and culture, cars, ice hockey, baseball, football, soccer, and politics
Political Views- Right winger but sort-of hybrid right wing libertarian
Religious views- grew up catholic but non-religious now
What got me into Aviation- I'm not sure. I think it's in my blood, since my birthmom is an Air Force pilot. (she flew the C-5 for a while but I'm not sure what she's doing now) I just absolutely love the fact that a bunch of metal tubes can swoop up into the skies, i guess. I also love the sound of engines, especially when they take off right above me.
I've done a lot of research into aviation since I was young, and before I came to ASU I was gonna go to flight school....then the economy fell down into the crapper
Airport base- PHX right now.
Favorite airport- NRT
Favorite Airplane- A340-600
Favorite Airline- ANA

Occupation: studying for a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. Finished my law degree earlier this year, now doing the GDLP so I can get my Practising Certificate. I hope to practice in intellectual property law (specifically copyright and trade mark law) and am passionate about protecting people and corporations from piracy, passing off and counterfeiting.
Non-aviation interests: cars, buses, Formula 1, AFL football, Star Trek, James Bond novels/films.
Political views: Indifferent. As long as Australia remains a Constitutional Monarchy, I'm happy. I couldn't care less which political party is in power.
Religious views: Christian
What got me into aviation: Growing up in Hong Kong in the 1980s when Kai Tak was still operational, watching planes fly overhead just metres above rooftops. I lived not far from where I could get a vantage point of Kai Tak's runway, and vividly remember seeing many CX green and white striped 747s and L1011s, as well as JL DC10s.

What got me into Aviation - I have no idea to be honest. I've been a huge fan for as long as I can remember. I know my dad was a fan and can remember spending many days at SFO including Terminal 2 back when it was the International Terminal. My first flight was at just a few months old, SFO - ITM and my parents say I was great.

Favorite airport - SFO
Favorite airplane - DC-10
Favorite airline - Northwest Airlines as I used to fly them all the time to visit family in Michigan. I'm well aware how sub par they really were, but it's what I grew up with and will always have a special place for them.

Religious views: non-practicing Greek Orthodox
What got me into aviation: spent my summers in Greece about a half mile from the approach end of the runway at the old airport watching take-offs and landings.
Political Views: If human dignity is assured first, I'm all for laissez-faire capitalism and libertarian thoughts. I believe the officials from every party would shoot me on sight.
Religous Views: Protestant on the paper, and I believe my God is a big, snug and slightly lazy Eagle Owl somewhere in a forest.
What got me into aviation: Technological learnings from a.net to make benefit great FlyingTurtle of Switzerland! Really, I'm not a spotter, I won't ever be a commercial pilot, but I really love to learn more and more about aviation and aviation-related engineering.

Occupation- 2nd year law student, currently hold a paying 15 hour a week job at my school assisting first year students with a substantive class. Was working for a federal government agency the past summer and plan to go back this spring and hope to gain a paying legal summer job this summer, we will see how that goes. Sometimes it is even hard to get a FREE job these days. It is insane.
Non-av interests- Geography (have a degree in it) cars, meteorology, basketball, travelling, food, a few video games like Sim City and GTA, science in general, and politics
Political Views- Republican, many see me as a moderate one others see me a bit more right of moderate.
What got me into Aviation- I can't say for certain but it was a mix of previous interest when I was young. First there were matchbox cars and making "cities" my city would need an airport and airports needed airplanes so a collection of airplanes ensued, then I would have to decide destinations for the airplanes leaving my "city" and it just grew on from there. I also always like geography and statistics and that just seemed to mesh well with airports and airlines. Finally came the real obsession. Flight Simulator. Been hooked on it since FS2000 and do not see myself stopping now. Wanted to be a commercial pilot for years but realized it is not a great career hope to get up to my commercial license though once I have the funds and time for flight training. Besides for school and whatever job I have FSX is right up there in time consumption oh and I guess my girlfriend beats FSX out too, most days
Cities I have lived in: Miami Beach, Miami, Washington D.C., and Barcelona Spain for 5 months.
Airport base- MIA with FLL once in a while.
Favorite airport- If I had to chose one besides for MIA no doubt it would be DCA. BCN and LAX close behind.
Favorite Airplane- 777-200LR, 737NG after that or maybe a DC-9-30 or 747-200, too many great planes.
Favorite Airline- AA, with B6 in second.

Ok, I jump on on this
Occupation: Senior FIrst officer B 747
Non- Av interests: Photography, cars (especially Mercedes Benz) and Formula 1, biking
Political views: a little bit of this, a little bit of that
Religious view: basically nothing...
What me got into aviation: well, good question, there was nothing I can remember which actually made me look into aviation. My mother told me I always wanted to be a pilot, since the very first day. And now I am where I always wanted to be! Flying Boeing 747's around the globe.
I remember when I was 14, I took my very first flight, a Boeing 737-200 of TunisAir. Flying HAM-TUN. Since that day I was even more sure that I want to become a pilot!
Airport base: DUS
Favorite airport: LHR (always liked the approach), LAX, SEA, HKG (and for sure not FRA )
Favorite Airplane: ah well, that's easy: Boeing 747 (no matter which)
Favorite Airline: Well, LH for obviously reasons. But in July I fell in love with Air Greenland

Name: For that information, I would need to see your security clearance ..
Age: late twenties
Occupation: Human Factors for an avionics major.
Non- Av interests: Football, cooking, touring on motorcycles, travelling, miscellaneous adventures of all sorts..
Political views: a bit to the left of center.
Religious view: atheist
What me got into aviation: Can't point out any specific reasons.. there's no one in my family working in the industry, we never lived near airports, and while my dad travelled a bit on work he didn't know much about airplanes (he once told me a 757 was bigger than a 747, 767 bigger than a 757, and so on.. ). However, I caught the bug early, and now I'm fortunate to hold a private pilot's license, and I work on avionics for business jets.
First flight : IAF Mi-8, but was too young to remember. First flight I remember is on an AI A310 from BOM to COK. First plane flown, VT-CAH (C172R Nav III).
Airport base: BLR
Favorite airport: DXB, cos I got to work on some ATC related stuff there. Airside is just amazing.
Favorite Airplane(s) : A340-500 (IMO the most beautifully proportioned plane out there), Il-2, C172, Tu-144, Tu-154, Mig-29, Su-34, Gripen.. the list goes on.

Ok - I've been a member of the A.net for a while now, but I've never taken the plunge and properly introduced myself - so, here goes!
Occupation: Translator/ Interpreter and Translation Studies teacher
Non-Av interests: Politics, reading, travelling, cooking, ice hockey, good wine
Political views: Left of Centre - basically more lefty on social issues and welfare but more centrist on business and infrastructure. I believe in nationalised healthcare, good public transport and fair benefits for those who may need them. But I don't believe people should be villified or punished for being successful and working hard to earn a good salary.
Religious views: Ex-Catholic - I wouldn't be against practising again if the church dragged itself kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. Until then, I can't be a part of something that spreads so much bigotry.
What got me into aviation: My parents always took us on international holidays when we were younger instead of staying at home. As a consequence, I've travelled all over the world, and indeed work abroad now, but I can tell you next to nothing about my own back yard! I always remember being more excited about the flight than the holiday - the feeling of excitement upon seeing the tails of the aircraft in the distance as the car got closer to the airport! Even going to an airport now brings me back to being a kid again!
Airport base: LYS (where I work) DND (where I call home!)
Favourite airport: EDI - I think the airport flows amazingly well for the size and number of passengers moving through quite a small space. The variety of aircraft and destinations are also impressive for a "provincial" airport. Plus, nothing can beat the view from the departure lounge!

Occupation- Currently working at a large research institute in Berlin
Non-av interests- Sustainability and resources, China and the Chinese language, food, cooking, travelling, wine etc.
Political views- I'm not very decided on how politics should be, more interested in causal analytics, comparisons between countries etc. From an analytical point of view, I probably lean to the historical materialism side with a good bit of Critical Theory and a dash of Marx
Religious views- nah
What got me into Aviation- flying as a kid with my parents (I grew up among LH folks), I thought flying was the greatest thing on earth, and in some ways I still think so. First flight I remember was on a TunisAir 727... blimey that was exciting.
Airport base- BER
Favorite airport- HKG
Favorite Airplane- MD11
Favorite Airline- LH (love-hate relationship, like every German)
