Yeah, I was in the parking lot of the Browns facility again:
-"Ma'am, you need to leave the field"
-"You're missing a great game, blue!!"
-"No, ma'am, you really need to go back to your seat!"
-"Bend over and use your good eye, blue!"
-"Uh, is there a police officer around? A sheriff?"

"Come on Blue, poke a hole in our mask blue!"
Here is part of Rome's classic take on this...
"Lois Collison took her 8 year old daughter and her Brownie troop to a minor league baseball game. It was a warm summer evening at the baseball park…a perfect night you would think. The girls were probably enjoying the game, eating hot dogs, drinking sodas, munching popcorn. It was a perfect night right up to the point up when Lois charged onto the field to argue a call with the first base umpire.
No freaking way.
Lois ran on the field to challenge a call made at first base. This is a 38 year old woman complete with daughter and brownie troop in tow… She broke out onto the field to give that umpire a piece of her mind?
When the chief of police asked why she ran onto the field he responded, “She didn’t like the call.” I guess not. At least she had a good reason.
Wait there’s more.
Originally they were going to allow her to leave on her own, assuming she’d just…leave. She said ‘no’. She refused to leave. So the police had no choice, they had to handcuff and arrest her, haul her off and charge her with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. How classic is it to have your mother get arrested in front of you and all of your friends from the Brownies.
Unfortunately, I’m starting to get used to the idea of drunk fathers losing their minds and doing something stupid. At the same time, I’m not used to 38 year old women with a Brownie Troop getting loose, running on the field and refusing to leave…because she didn’t like the call.
Umpires are used to managers coming out of the dugout, players challenging their calls because they didn’t like them. Umpires are even used to getting an earful from fans when they are within earshot. Umpires are not used to swinging around and having Lois standing on the field, losing her mind and refusing to leave. Umpires are not used to having women arrested so they can continue with the game.
I know the 8 year old daughter was like, “Uh, Mom where are you going? Why are you taking off your earrings and climbing over the backstop? I don’t think…Mom? MOM! Come back MOM!”
The play-by-play announcer had to have been equally as shocked.
“Bang bang play at first, Johnson just nipped by the throw. Uh, oh, wait a minute. A woman is climbing over the backstop…wait, no she’s decided to go around and run across the dugout. She’s on the field. It looks like she wants a piece of the umpire. She must have not agreed with the call.”
It makes sense to me. If you don’t like a call, what else is somebody supposed to do…just sit there and take it? If I pay my money to watch a minor league game with my daughter and her Brownie troop, then damn it, I expect every call to be right or I’m gonna go have a talk with the ump.
But more importantly, how did the kids get home? She was arrested. Did the Brownies just sit in their seats and wait until the mom posted bail or bond?"

Hey KROC-did you hear the one about Travis at the Dodgers game?
"That was my baseball"
"Uh, well, it's in my hands ma'am, so it's my baseball"
"It's my baseball-it was going into my lap until you grabbed it"
"Well ma'am, I caught it so it's mine"
"Well, it's my baseball! And it's my birthday!"
Unfortunately, since I'm done with vacation now, I won't get anymore Romie for a long, long time.
Oh, went to the Indians/D-Backs game tonight. Tribe trounced the champs, and there was no riot over the Bartolo Colon trade-that will happen if/when Jim Thome goes out the door.
