Why?

Porsche Panamera Grand Tourismo - this is the one they should have launched in the first place

No kidding. I like that way better than the normal one, as long as it hasn't gained too much weight. The CLS didn't so I doubt it will be a problem. I would also expect that even if this doesn't make production that many of the styling revisions (mostly 991-esque features) will make it to the normal Panamera anyway.

Quoting KiwiRob (Thread starter):
McLaren P1

Now that is a car. It is absolutely wonderful in every respect as far as I can tell.

Why not? I love the idea of Bentley racing in GT3, Bentley have a long and glorious history in GT racing so it was about time they got back into it.

I have no problems with Bentley racing, but the Continental GT is just kind of the complete opposite of a racecar. It's a super luxurious muscle car that's fast in a straight line but weighs as much as a whale. That video of a Continental GT being rallyed is pretty cool though.

That's what makes it so cool, it harks back to the pre war days of the blower Bentley which Ettore Bugatti called 'the worlds fastest lorries'.

I can buy into the weirdness of it, just like that drag racing dump truck, but I prefer cars to be more light and nimble, which nobody has ever accused Bentley of being.

I agree with you. I was actually surprised to see they made a racecar out of it. But I actually like it!

I'll got to the show, don't know when yet. I like the idea of a small Jaguar roadster but I find the styling really strange, a mishmash of cues from other brands.

But it looks great. They picked all the right pieces from the right cars and the result is brilliant. A vaguely Astonish grill, headlights similar to the 350Z or Ferrari 599, side styling that seems to mimic the BMW 507 (and by extension Z4), rear styling not unlike the Aston Martin DB7 and Maserati GranCabrio, with taillights seeming to have drawn from the Porsche 911. They got some good bits.

The F-type looks great from the rear. From the front it is kind of iffy..it has a Nissan 370Z look from some angles.

I agree that it has some 370Z in the styling - however, I also see some Alfa Romeo styling in the rear....

So... Jaguar is introducing their own version of a Miata?

Okay, the F-Type is probably much larger than a Miata in person, but that high beltline makes it look stubby and gives it a distinctly Miata-esque profile that just doesn't suit a proper Jaguar roadster.

Some of mine too!

The F-Type is great, especially the rear end is a stunner, though the front is a bit bland as others said. 8,5 out of 10 points from me.

Quoting stasisLAX (Reply 10):

Thats why I love it, as Alfa has the best rear-end design this side of the Superlux class.

The Porsche GT is so much better then the standard Panamera. 8/10

The Bentley is for Club-racers I suppose. Then it makes sense. I would love to see it in the DTM (German touring car masters) which is a boring Mercedes-Audi-BMW monopoly for 10 years now. Cool car anyway, though white isnt the right colour for it. To refresh the Bentley Boys era is the right thing for the brand. 8/10

The Fiat Special is funny. I like what they do with the 500. 7,5/10

The McLaren? Styling isnt quite where Ferrari is I´m afraid, and I dont like the odd black panel on the side. Too much computergame design. 7/10 at best.

I dont like the Mini Paceman though, like many of the Mini (which isnt mini btw) derivatives its an odd looking thing. I´d give it 4 points.

The Toyota GT86? The Japanese just never get it right, styling-wise. It lacks coolness and style. Too plasticky for me. Too many tacky details. It might drive well, but aside the new Jag its a miserable-looking car, sorry. Just 5 out of 10 points I´m afraid.

This is BMW's first season in the DTM this century. In fact I think that last time BMW was involved in the DTM was when the E30 M3 was racing which means prior to 1991.

Really, then ist even worse than I thought. Opel was the part-time third contender then. I didnt follow that series anymore since before 2000 because each time I happen to see a few minutes by chance on TV its the same cars in ugly and boring paint designs mainly in silver or black. The DTM races look like before the invention of colour TV  In the 70s up to the 90s that was such a great series.

They also unveiled the LP 570-4 Edizione Tecnica. Basically a Superleggera with carbon ceramic brakes.

It's much better than that. The McLaren is wonderfully outrageous, like the mutant love child of the F1 and a Koenigsegg.

Also, Ian Callum did a Q&A at Jalopnik and said, among other things, that there will not be a Jaguar SUV and that hood ornaments are actually only legal in the US due to pedestrian safety laws, which is just sad. Get some sort of breakaway mechanism.

Outrageous, the right word. Thats what I dont like it, and thats why I prefer Ferrari over Lamborghini. The Reds are more classy, Lambo, and now McLaren, more crazy.

Anyway, Jalopnik.com is posting 360 degree views of most of the important vehicles from the show.
