Seems it's not always safe to be at the top of the food chain...

Quote:

Terry Vance Garner, 69, went to feed his animals last Wednesday on his farm by the coast, but never returned.

His dentures and pieces of his body were found by a family member in the pig enclosure, but the rest of his remains had been consumed.

...

Investigators say it is possible that the hogs knocked Garner over before killing and eating him.

But they have not ruled out the possibility that the farmer could have collapsed from a medical emergency, such as a heart attack.

Just reminded me of this...

...when a dog owner dies, the dog sometimes chews off the head of the owner. And sometimes, this presents a red herring to the police detectives.

Maybe now we know why there is the alleged shortage of bacon: the pigs are eating the farmers!

I grew up on a farm so I do actually feel bad for the guy.

Anyway, there's a real possibility that he had a cardiac event being that he was in his late 60s and got ate by the hogs. From what I've read here locally he raised them for 4H (or kids that want to be future farmers) so they were larger than production hogs. Who knows what happened. But....I definitely think this is a definite case of Hogacide.

I was thinking more along the lines of Hannibal.

I read a spy thriller once where the protagonist disposed of a body by feeding it to hogs. According to the book if you cut up the body into large pieces they'll eat even the bones.

It would be interesting to see if there is still (decipherable) human DNA in the bones after the pig has excreted them...

Regardless, R.I.P. to the farmer.

DNA is very stable stuff. In the bones there probably would still be.

Sadly he wasn't eaten by rabbits, else there would be Night of the Lepus...
Quoting DocLightning (Reply 13):

Hmm. Then it would still be helpful in removing a human body...
