Yeah of course it will be interesting what Nokia and Microsoft can bring to the mobile phone 'flora'. It looks great and if it performs as it looks, then consumers will be all the richer for it.

I'll give this a try when it comes out.

Well the specs are as good or better than anything currently on the market, and WP8 can only be better than 7.5, which was awesome. I'm very exited!

Nope, I'm looking forward to the BlackBerry 10 devices.

I have to say that the color options for the new Lumia are a bit much. That yellow and red just are a bit loud for my tastes, and if I wanted a colorful phone, there are plenty of cases on the market for that. Of course if one gets tired of their red or yellow phone, they can cover it up with a case. I'm partial to darker colored phones and my Curve 9360 is predominantly black with some dark gray and chrome trim. I've had a white phone in the past and it got dingy fast. I've seen a few BlackBerry devices being offered in white and just don't like the look of them (mainly because I think BlackBerry devices should be black).

The Lumia is definitely a make or break device for Nokia seeing how in many major markets they are hardly a player (You think RIM is in bad shape in some markets, Nokia is even worse and lag behind RIM.). They still do quite well in markets in which the cell network infrastructure is not fully compatible with 3G/4G devices or there is limited 3G/4G coverage. In India as well as parts of Asia, South America and Africa, Nokia is the dominant brand alongside BlackBerry while iPhones and Android devices lag in sales because of the limited 3G/4G infrastructure in many areas of those regions (especially outside of the major cities).

I've just got a Lumia 800 Cyan and I must say i'm a little dissapointed in it. The phone looks great and has some nice features, but battery life is poor and it's too complicated to do some simple tasks. The Windows operating system has loads of bugs and doesn't have a native file manager so you can't use Internet Explorer to upload files or attached them to web mail, simple things that other phones manage without a problem. You need a pc to do some tasks as well so it might look good, but it has it's faults. I hope the updated operating system has addressed some of the issues.

Fair enough. They do come in muted colours too you know, matte black, grey and white. I too look forward to the BB10 devices, but i just can't see them offering anything that isn't already available to be honest.

Nope. I'm still happy with my 4S. Not even interested in a 5 right now, much less changing brands and all that goes along with that.

What do you mean "All that goes along with that"?

iTunes syncs all your music and stuff through the mac connector (Or through zune on PC) automatically.

It's about learning how the new features work.

I have a Blackberry and even though it's anything but an amazing phone, it does everything I need it to do and I know how it works. I bought the Blackberry because it doesn't spy on its users and RIM not only respects, but actually values privacy of its users.

That being said, it's still a pretty crappy phone in terms of capabilities compared to what else is out there but it gets the job done and I don't have to familiarize myself with something new.

So I'm keeping it.

The hardware looks very nice...but that UI is just absolutely hideous    I hope Lumia has a theme-builder of sorts so that users aren't stuck with it!

Specs look very similar to the BB10 devices coming out in a few months.

Same here. Having had the opportunity to work on it, I've been incredibly excited to see the finished product since I stopped working there a month ago.

Quoting something (Reply 8):
it does everything I need it to do and I know how it works.

This is exactly why I scoff at anybody who claims there is a "best phone in the world". Everybody has different wants and needs in their device, so any phone that meets those demands is really the "best phone in the world" to them.

Before I opened this thread, I suspected you were refering to the Lumia 920

Yes I am very much looking forward to it. Can't decide which colour I want. Yellow is cool but I am afraid I might get tired of it. Black is the safe choice but also boring. Maybe Cyan... And a red Fatboy charging pillow to go

Hmmm, we've had the 800 (Cyan as well) for just under a year or so and are very happy with it so far. Enough apps though my wife really uses three or four the most. I know you seem focused on the file manager aspect from your other post but it appears other phone OS's (iOS, Android) don't have a native file manager (or at least a good one) and instead rely on apps for that. My wife really only uploads pics to FB and of course the FB app works there. I do however agree that MS is silly for not integrating more functions of IE9 and such to be "normal" in it operation on the phone. I am curious what you can only do with the computer (are you talking about the updates that are not over the air for this version of the OS)?

Battery-wise the 800 lasts all day or more for us so I don't know what we are doing differently (and it gets used all day long).

Regarding the 920, I do look to upgrade to it when the time comes. The camera on the 800 definitely needs to be better (though the updated software has really improved it, brought it to at least a decently usable one). One thing though is I don't know if I like the curved screen, I tend to like it best when the screen is flat (you can lay the phone down on its face without hitting the screen). But I'll have to see.

Some of the Camera upgrades on the 920 are nothing short of revolutionary. OIS inbuilt, that's hardware OIS as well. 8.7MP Pureview lens, incredible Low light performance. Can't wait for it.

Yes, that's a big reason why I am interested in it. It really is for my wife and she is always using her 800 as her primary camera.
