Retired Command Sgt. Basil L. Plumley ha passed away. he was 92.

He was a Veteran of three wars, WWII where he jumped both Normandy and Market Garden as well as fought in Salerno. he also served in the Korean War and later Vietnam most notably in the Battle of the La Drang Valley as the CSM of 1st Battalion, 7th Calvery under command of then Lt. Col Hal Moore. This battle was the basis for the book and movie, "We were Soldiers"' Sam Elliot played Plumley, with Mel Gibson playing Moore
