Apparently Romney's "transition" web site went on line long enough for a blogger to capture it!

Aw, too bad, Mitt!

Guess he's just got to dig into his $150M and get a few of his non-47%ers to kick in more millions so he can have another go at it in 2016!

Why not, the third time's a charm, at least for the Dems!

Third time, for what? Don't forget the last President was a Republican. In order to get the next three consecutive Dem Presidents, you need #44 (Obama), #45 and #46.

He meant a third campaign for Romney.

Something that has been common in France for decades, and worked for socialist François Mitterrand (1965, 1974, elected in 1981, reelected in 1988) and conservative Jacques Chirac (1981, 1988, elected in 1995 and reelected in 2002).

I think he was talking about the third time for Mitt.

I can understand the internet materials being developed well before the election - you don't want something thrown together the morning after the election.

Mitt was exceptionally efficient in shutting down his campaign. Campaign workers taking a cab home after closing up for the night discovered that their campaign credit card had been cancelled. Someone was prepared for Mitt not winning.

I think he was referring to Romney making a 3rd attempt to run for President (in 2016) with every attempt being defeated (for 2008, the GOP Primary/in 2012, the general election) and resulting in a Democrat getting elected (or for 2012 re-elected) in the general election.

I don't think Romney will run again. Personally, I'd like to see Paul Ryan run for the top of the ticket in 2016. IMHO, he (Ryan) should've ran for President this year but oh well.

I agree. No need to already have it on a server, though, especially when the results aren't even announced on a schedule.

Isn't that what Mitt said to his tax accountant?

Yes, that's what I was referring to.

I wouldn't mind seeing him spend down his son's inheritance a bunch more.

Ryan should be a good candidate in 2016, even more so if he can gain more stature and accomplishments over the next two years.

It would have been very hard for him to run due to lack of recognition before this election, but his VP run has fixed that for him.

Believe it or not, I'm keeping an open mind for 2016 and could see myself supporting him depending on who the other side gets to run against him and depending on how Ryan would conduct his campaign.

Well, he has served in the US House since 1998 (and was re-elected this year) so he'll still be around. Prior to Romney picking him as his running mate, Ryan did get some national exposure due to his being Chariman of the House Budget Committee.

How The Race Slipped Away From Romney (a good read, more interesting than trying to straighten out BMI727!) ends with:

Quote:

The day after his loss, Mr. Romney stopped by headquarters to visit staffers and thank them for their efforts.

He didn't hint at what he would do next, only saying "I'm not going away," one staffer said.

So maybe Mitt is ready to rumble some more?

In a delicious bit of irony, dailykos user Magnifico had a diary on Romneys transition website.

Romney's WH Transition Website Surprise!

One of the screenshots captured before the website was taken down (posted in the above diary) was a photo Team Romney chose for Romney's wished-for presidential inauguration.

It was a beautiful shot of the the Capitol draped in flags, taken during another President's inauguration.

And that other President's inauguration?

It was Obama's in 2008.

In addition, The Boston Globe reported that Romney was so excited about being president, he arranged for a fireworks display over the Harbor:

Quote:
A permit filed with the City of Boston said the detonation could occur any time between 7 p.m. Tuesday, just after the first polls closed, and 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, which ended up being just before Romney conceded the race.

Unfortunately, the night did not go as planned.

Quote:
Instead, Atlas Professional Fireworks Displays unloaded the pyrotechnics from mortars set up on a barge near the Bank of America Pavilion and carted them back to its headquarters in Jaffrey, N.H.

Personally, given the fact that Romney now joins Al Gore & George McGovern in the Major Party Presidential Candidates That Lost in Their Home State stigma category; that could easily give the opposition some addtional ammunition. Granted, McGovern (who lost to Nixon in 1972) made another attempted run in 1988 but he dropped out well before the DNC Convention in Atlanta.

Regarding Paul Ryan: maybe he can replace Boehner as Speaker in January.
