SHould Arabs Take A Lesson From Jews In America?

I was hearing on the radio the other day about how many are calling for the Palastinians/Arabs to take a look at Jews in America and learn from them. This extremely persecuted group came to america and has assimulated with Americans to form peaceful citizens, while keeping there own culture. They never demanded part of America, never blew up american buildings or used the ultimate lowest form terrorism, the suicide bomb, on us Americans. All the while, they were still even persecuted by some Americans, but even then, learned that violence and blowing themselves up wasn't going to solve anything, nor forming huge terrorsit groups. What do you think about that?

Note: This opion was stated on AM 1500 talk station in Minneapolis Minnesota and the above opinion was NOT formulated by me or anyone that I know and therfore please aim all counter attacks at the media, not Zeus01. Thank you.

I think there is a huge difference in the 2 circumstances and some very important information is missing .....

I think all to often people make simplistic statements like "you could learn from us" and when you look closely at that group you learn that they aren't as pristine as they would have you believe.

In effect, legends in their own minds.

Aaa.......Zeus is that the greek god or am I mistaken?

America didn't to that to them. US gives Israel tons of money every year, tax payers money.

I think that education is the only way out of this mess. Both sides learning to live with each other in peace. It has nothing to do with religion but rather ignorence on both sides.

I agree with ADG, it's too simplistic a way to look at things. You're talking about two different cultures, the U.S. and the Middle East, and it would be very hard for a Palestinian in the Occupied Territories to relate with even Arabs in the United States, simply because of the difference is lifestyle.

I agree with that. I think that that type of statement "you could learn from us"
is for the most part BS. It depends on what group your talking about. Legend in their own minds? Thats true about lots of groups and people. More then you expect.

Like others have said, it's way too simplistic. The Jews in the U.S. do not live on a strip of desert land, have no enemies, and are citizens of a free, democratic state with freedom of press. It's like comparing apples and oranges. You can't expect Mid East Arabs to relate to what boils down to an American experience.

TNNH, just what are you trying to prove? You can't compare the accomplishments of American Jews to that of American Arabs. The former have lived in the U.S. far longer than the latter.

One difference,

This extremely persecuted group came to america -Jews come to America, Arabs on the other hand are FROM Palestine, it is not like they come to Israel with their rules. They are home.

OK.,...let's put this into perspective shall we?

Jews migrate to America --> Jews integrate into that society

That is basically how it is.

If we are going to use a closer example it would go like

Jews migrate to Palestine --> Jews don't integrate into Palestinian society, but take over the place for themselves (whether they were "given" the land by Europeans is neither here nor there) (in effect demanding the land)

So why did Jews migrate and integrate to/into America, but they didn't in Palestine?

That peoples is a more similar example, so maybe the thread title should read:

Should Jews in Israel take a lesson from Jews in America?

What does my question have to do with Arab bashing??
Should American Jews learn from American gentiles?? Well I think they have! We've got it much better than them now.  Laugh out loud

Hepkat
I'm not trying to prove anything. People didn't liek the comparison of american jews to palestinian arabs, so how about american jews to american arabs. Jews are far more successful, respected, influential, rich, than American Arabs, so maybe Arabs should learn from Ameican Jews  Confused

I think your wrong about Jews coming into palastine. This land was origianlly theres in early history anyway, just happened to be owned by the europeans who knew that the jews had had 6 million massacered by Nazi Germany and figured they deserved some compensation. Thats why they got it back.

Also, if you say that Jews here have no enemies, your dead wrong. Ever been to a high school and heard how what the word "jew" is used for? Or how stupid kids are called jews by ignorant, stupid american teenagers? SOrry these kids don't represent all american high schoolers, but your dead wrong when you say Jews in america have no enemies. There one of the most persecuted groups here in accord to race. The only diffence is is that most americans are more sensible than some palastinianes who feel the urge to kill themselves and chirldren, as well as by far less barbaric and don't blow themselves and chirldren up, but it HAS happened in the past. THose people are dead now fortunantly.

It would make more sense to compare American Jews with American Arabs. While American Arabs may not have done as well economically and socially as their Jewish counterparts, they do appear, as far as one can tell, to be pretty much as patriotic as any recent immigrant group. With a very few exceptions, they haven't turned out to be a "fifth column" that is plotting new terrorist attacks. In other words, Arab-American loyalty does not appear to be a significant issue.

I agree with peter, arab americans appear to be pretty patriotic, but we really need their help in combatting terrorists lurking in their midst and as far as i know they have done little to help point out these animals and arrest them.

jim, what could jews learn from arabs?

Some things just aren't funny, David, and are in poor taste-just because you put a laughing face by it doesn't make it funny. It was in very poor taste.

As for the rest of what you said, sticks and stones. I don't put much stock in what you say to begin with, so it's cool by me if you want to vent.
