The Seattle Mariners can't hit but thanks to a new 10 million dollar scoreboard, when you come to Safeco Field you will be able to see all the strikeouts and ground outs bigger than ever. Thank God for miracles in Seattle.

You left out one thing..... Safeco is undergoing field renovations at the moment, they are moving in the fences.

Nobody can hit at Safeco. It's not just Seattle having a problem with hitting. Your logic is flawed.

And the new scoreboard is gonna be awesome.

Haterz gunna hate. But Okay.....

Yeah, spend big $$ on a video board instead of players that can hit - with management like this is it any wonder they haven't been to the playoffs in 11 years?

So, you think only the Mariners' players will hit more homers? They'll lose 4-3 instead of 2-0. And how does moving in the fences help them move a runner into scoring position with less than two outs or getting a two-out base hit with a runner at third? Those are far bigger flaws in their offense than lack of dingers.

AS it isn't going to help them move in the fences. Other teams CAN hit at Safeco. The Ms can't. Thank God they have pitching or every game would be 15-0. I don't hate the Ms I just have a total dislike for money going to renovations to a relatively new stadium when you can't even put a decent product on the field to make it worth coming to the ballpark to watch. A larger than life scoreboard is not going to make me show up to watch a ballgame.

I never said that. Please don't put words in my mouth. What I said was:

Quoting AirframeAS (Reply 1):
It's not just Seattle having a problem with hitting.

So, what does this statement I said in reply one mean, ER757? It means its not a problem for Seattle only, it is a problem for EVERY team that comes to Seattle to play the Mariners. (See the link below)

Quoting ER757 (Reply 2):

You'll have to ask the players that. They are the ones that wanted the fences moved in.

Quoting 3DoorsDown (Reply 3):
AS it isn't going to help them move in the fences.

What does Alaska Airlines have to do with the fences being moved in?? Wanna explain that one to me?

Quoting 3DoorsDown (Reply 3):
Other teams CAN hit at Safeco.

Nope. Other teams have COMPLAINED about the fences at Safeco. Nobody likes to play at Safeco. Up until this past year, Safeco has been a pitchers haven. Fact. At the same time, this article disagrees with you:

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...id=39364000&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb

The Mets also brought in their fences, too. Yet, I don't see anyone complaining about that.

Quoting ER757 (Reply 2):

The Mariners don't need your permission to install something they want in their stadium. After all, they are paying for this on their own, it is their money. I say let them do whatever they want to do. If they want to upgrade stuff in Safeco, more power to them. It does not bother me.

Quoting 3DoorsDown (Reply 3):

Safeco is not new. Safeco is now 13 years old. Opened in mid-season 1999.

Then don't go. No one is forcing you to go to the games. Don't like it, don't go...its that simple.

That video board will eventually pay for itself, it's just a matter of how long it takes.

That goes both ways. Nice, new stadiums can attract more fans and provide more resources for the team.

Either way, the Cubs have an even worse team and yet are moving forward with plans to renovate the stadium, because it will help them in the long run. (In my opinion, they'd be better off getting a new stadium, on either the current site or a new one) Fan experience is important, and so is bringing in revenue. Large screens can do both.

Of course they don't - I never said they did. Now who's putting words in someone else's mouth?
They are raising ticket prices to help pay for it which just baffled me. Their attendance is headed rapidly towards the Kingdome days and they think raising ticket prices is going to make more people come to the games to see a mediocre (at best) product? My opinion, and that's all it is, would be spend the $$ that they're sinking into the video board towards better players instead of a fancy new screen that isn't going to get one more butt in the seats or one more game in the win column.

Fail. The quote of mine that you used isn't putting words in your mouth. I simply said that the M's don't need your permission to do what they please. Nice try.

You shouldn't be baffled. Everyone else has been raising ticket prices too. Don't like the price? Then don't buy it. Simple as that.

They're working on that. Figgins' contract is setting that plan back. No one wants him, so the Mariners are stuck with him and his ridiculous contract.

Hmmm...Maybe, just maybe, AS is the last two letters in your user name. Which having been on here for so long I am pretty sure that yes, in your user name it also is for Alaska Airlines. How's that for an explanation?

And of course moving in the fences will make it more hitter friendly. But it will make it more hitter friendly for the teams that can actually hit, and for the teams that would rather spend more money on a scoreboard than a hitter or two, they will still lose at home. Well, in their case home and away.

Maybe, but then again maybe not...... You are entitled to an opinion. And so am I.

Don't worry - I won't. Not until they put a quality product on the field. I love baseball, love going to games. Mis-spent most of my youth at Old Comiskey Park in Chicago - in fact the last thing I did before I moved west was go to a Sox game. I fervently hope for the M's to be competitive again, but until they are I am not plunking down my hard earned money to watch them hit ground-outs and strike out with runners on 2nd and 3rd.

On this point, we can agree. They've unfortunately been stuck before too - Richie Sexson, anyone? Kenji Jojima?

I think we can ALL agree with that one.
