For those who may be interested, Costa has set up a website to allow the public to track the progress of the recovery of the wreckage of the Costa Concordia.

The URL refers to the process of rotating the wreck back into an upright position before refloating.

Is it going to be able to actually float? Where will they sail it for scrapping?

Apparently, they will float it with giant floats called sponsons.

I'm thinking Costa Concordia has probably got to be the largest vessel ever raised like this?

Here's a cool shot of the salvage of USS OKLAHOMA in Pearl Harbor...a much smaller ship.

Building those support structures under water to hold the upright ship while the water is pumped out and the sponsors attached is an interesting concept.

Will be interesting to watch.

The ship was stripped of superstructure and righted in 1943 in the world's most expensive salvage operation.
