Just watched the Mid-Season finale of WD and am wondering if anyone else watches this show. I've been on board with this show since the first episode of the first season, but I gotta say they are starting to lose me. There are so many sub plots going on. The show just seems stagnant. Anyway, anyone else have some thoughts?

I disagree, I thought it was pretty good. Just finished the last episode myself.

I thought last season with them looking for Sophia got sooooo old but this season has been pretty exciting. The show is strange, it's corny, over the top, and I HATE most of the characters, yet I like the show.

Andrea can't die soon enough BTW, I've hated her since the first few episodes. They film the show (at least the Woodberry part) only 10 minutes away from my parents' house so I got to see some of the set when I went for Thanksgiving. I did a Color Guard event where the railroad cars are (right in front of the main gate.) Kinda cool to see it in the show

Thing is, they´ve strayed so far apart from the Comic Book series that I´ve just lost interest. I still watch it out of inertia, mostly, but I enjoy the Comic much more. I just received the last book, vol. 8 about a month ago and it still is as exciting as ever. The TV series...well, it´s just not there. I don´t think it´ll survive.

I think this finale was a bit of a let down. I know the break is only a couple of months, but they need to leave us with a bigger "OMG!" than they did, in my opinion (I won't give anything away). I mean, look at what Breaking Bad did, albeit for a longer break...it has been off for a couple months now and I still cannot wait for July when it comes back. I don't feel that after last nights Walking Dead.

I still think it's a great show and will, of course, watch it as soon as it comes back in February...but so far, this season hasn't been as great as previous ones in my opinion.

I agree, but I think that season also had a lot of good character development that this season lacks. People have just been dying this season...nobody has been growing.

I love how they invest in characters and then kill them off, the latest example is the prison inmate. The second prison inmate seems to be heading that direction too, would not be surprised if the guy was in prison because he was a sexual predator. Also this new group that stumbled into the prison is interesting, their dynamics seem very similar to Rick's group. They're going to need the help to fend off the Governor's counter attack.

I was happy with the mid-season finale, the last two or three episodes were dragging a bit with too much focus on the town and the Governor. They're righting the course imo.

lol, I guess you and me are opposite. I appreciate a bit of character development, but I like the mindless zombie attacks more

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, but I actually like this aspect. Cliche movies will have most the main characters survive, this show kills them off indiscriminately. Obviously, I'm sure Rick will survive but everyone else seems to be fair game.

As far as investing in characters, I think it's kinda annoying how they'll "change" characters instantly. I liked that old man prisoner, but in a 1 minute span, they turned him into a pedo-creeper man. At the end of last season, Lori and Rick were still in love and doing fine, for the most part. At the beginning of season 3, they were on the rocks all of the sudden. I know time elapsed, but still, seems out of the blue

And don't take this as racist, please, but has anyone found it odd that they keep 1 token black guy? T-Dog lived forever, then when that new black male prisoner joined the group, T-Dog died. Last episode, some random group comes to the jail, accompanied with a new black male, and the prisoner dies. We've all heard (I think) the stereotype about the token black guy, but this show really seems to reinforce it lol. I obviously am not judging the characters solely on the color of their skin, I just found it odd/coincidental.

BTW: Does anyone hate Andrea as much as I do?

If they stuck solely to the comic book series they'd have little room for creative license; incorporating some aspects of a book series and veering wildly away from it when it makes for good TV has worked well here, as it has in "True Blood." I'm sure the writers are taking cues from that show's success in using this method.

She's annoying, but nowhere near as bad as Lori was.

And now, frankly, Carl is getting on my nerves.

Yeah almost everyone I talked to hated her. I didn't think she was that bad, I mean, she was dumb and pretty useless but I had no problem with her

I like him better now that he isn't being a complete idiot in everything he does, though he does seem a bit unrealistic

What gave you that idea? The fact that he was hitting on the underage girl?

The finale seemed awfully Governor-centric as well. Heck, he was the last thing we saw before the screen went to black. I understand he is a big character and will be for a bit of time, but I agree that it was getting a bit Governor-centric. And Andrea-centric. I'd prefer the Governor the Andrea, that's for sure.

Agreed. And for what it's worth, I didn't create that.

Those phone calls were really annoying me until I realized they weren't real and he was just crazy, then it was cool. Especially when you can hear Lori on the line say "what happened".

I liked it, actually. I thought bringing Merle and Darryl back together like that was a good turn. PLUS, after the massive drama of Lori, the baby, all that, I think they needed to have a bit more muted finale for this mid season run.

What I don't like is that they focus on Rick grieving, the phone calls, etc, and then magically he's fine. We don't know what the sense of time is with this, but if you assume it's all a 'real time' chronology, he didn't sleep for days. And then they make the run on the town and the Governor.

Michonne is starting to piss me off. Enough with the brooding crap--the mystery of her is offset by the uncertainty, and not in a good way plot wise I think.

And yes, I think everyons despises Andrea. It will be rather curious to see how she fits in the first show next season. Will she broker peace, stick with teh Governor, go back to the group, play saboteur for one party or the other?

I never followed the graphic novels but have enjoyed this series since the first episode. It really does a tremendous job of character depth (mostly), moralistic questions, man vs man, man vs unknown, all of that. Pacing in this season has been good, frantic at times but well played out.

It's the most popular show on cable other than NFL football.

I think he was in prison for drug possession/distribution. And finally Carol got some decent lines when she shut his ass down. Meanwhile Carl's become even more of a badass, Michonne FINALLY did something other than scowl (the writers have been a bit clumsy with her character), the Governor's finally gone off the deep end, and they better not kill off Daryl.
