I thought you didn't need any reason to fire somebody in the US ?
Looks to me like she was fired normally and sued in return alleging that some rule had been broken, and the courts decided there was no protection for her, which doesn't seem that far fetched.

"It's not fair". Welcome to life. The dentist is an idiot but so what, that is legal also.

Although it isn't right how she was fired, why would she want to work for someone like that anyways? I'd be more than happy to leave and work for someone who appreciates my skill and could keep it in their pants! Though I feel like this was an affair gone wrong...

Seems to me that she should have sued for sexual harrassment for the comments he made instead ("if you see my pants bulging" etc.). Probably would have been a stronger case.

That's what I was thinking.
Quoting cmf (Reply 6): Right to work is the marketing name. It really should be called right to fire.
The same thing could have happened to her in a state that does not have right to work laws.

I'm wondering how many patients of his will decide to go elsewhere over this episode?

Wives are expendable. What a jerk - these two must be the gruesome twosome. Definitely think this employee should have filed a sexual harassment claim instead.

Do not agree with this ruling at all. At least we know who wears the pants in that home, what a weeny.
My sentiments exactly. So she has a good body. If she's a good employee, then why does it matter what she looks like? That boss is a putz, and his wife is an insecure not-too-trusting pain in the @$$...
Do not bring stranger girt into your room. The stranger girt is dangerous, it will hurt your life.

Sounds about right. And I'm not sure there's anything stopping that happening in the future. She should bankrupt this toad.

Seriously. If she's so insecure that even the thought of competition does this to her, she has zero value as wife on that basis alone. I can only imagine what living with such a troll is like. But if he's willing to harm a 3rd party to appease that shrew, he deserves her anyway.

Not to defend this decision, which I find strangely odd, but discriminating someone based on looks happens all the time, particularly for sales / customer service positions. When was the last time you saw an unattractive waiter at Hooter's? If you are a bouncer in a night-club in NYC you are even allowed to discriminate based on gender, but just as long as it is against dudes I am sure it is fine.

Not to mention the damage this public case has probably done to his dental practice.

Of course, but don't feed the trolls.
