Whats Up With These Post?!?

Why are there so many gay and straight post on this website? First the gay members start a post then the straight members have to come back with a post to "get back" at the gay people for their post. I'm straight, but I don't have the urge to share it with every member of A.net, and I definitely don't feel the need to chew out each person whose gay. Basically what I'm wondering is why can't we get off the whole rivalry between gay and straight people. I mean, we all share one common interest(aviation) so why can't we dwell on that rather than getting so defensive about our sexual preferences. Thats my two sense worth.

First, there are not as many as you would figure. I am guessing you are reacting to the only two that are in current circulation and, after viewing their huge attendances, you think that there are many gay-related posts. The last time I saw stuff like this was at least 6-months ago, it is cyclical and at least it shows up more often than in real life. The problem is that in here, it is usually always an argument of religious accord and personal differences. They go nowhere, the participants *might* get something out of it, and in the end it just starts up again, I'll bet around Oct/Dec 2002.  Big thumbs up

Lehpron, your right, I am probably reacting to the most recent two post, however it seems like there are more and more of these types of posts popping up. Thanks for the reply.

I couldn't agree with you more Northwest_guy.

People just end up getting offended, sometimes to the point of leaving this forum. I know of one such case and THAT is really too bad.

Let's move on.

The way I see it, one group gets away with it, the other doesn't. The first group likes to rub the second groups nose "in it".

The big problem I have with this, is the influence posed to the many minors on this site. They should learn sexuality at home, not the internet.

Guys,

I don't have a problem with *straight* posts or *gay* posts. So long as people stick by the forum rules there should be no problem.

What constitutes a gay or straight post is interesting. You can tackle it in several ways, if you want to include every one look at it from this perspective:

"Show us a picture of your girlfriend!"

replaced with:

"Show us a picture of you partner!"

Just an idea.

I also don't see any problem with minors reading gay topics, so long as they are no more offensive than is generally tolerated here. It's not like discussing the gay thing and making others feel more comfortable about who they are is going to all of a sudden corrupt youngsters into becoming gay.

Those of us who can relate to these issue, and are intelligent enough to know better understand that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay.

Could you imagine how dark skinned people would react if they were told "my church doesn't agree with your colour" (oh, yeah, look at history) in the year 2002? (only as an example)

Is it really that the 'one group' likes to rub the others nose "in it," or rather is it that some folks from the 'other group' are too uncomfortable, immature and most importantly, insecure enough to read a discussion about "it" without feeling the need to post some type of moronic response in order to assert their supposed ultra-masculinity???

I haven't seen the 'one group' have any problems with the "girlfriend problems" type of threads or the incessant and innumerable posts containing sexual innuendo pertaining to the 'other' group's sexual orientation. So why do certain members of the 'other group' have a problem with comparable posts and/or threads from the 'one group'???

It seems to me that certain members from the 'other group' are the ones with the problem.

I agree with Northwest_guy & Dripstick. We need to move on. Its the internet who cares. Good we all have our own life style we all do our own thing but we don't need to keep telling you folks all the time. I think that a single thread should have delt with the issue all together rather then starting up a ton of smaller ones.

What strikes me as most weird is that homosexual people, whether male or female, want to be treated as normal human beings just like heteros and then go out of their way to let everyone see how different they are.
Walking around cities in tight underwear with pink slippers, "pride parades" where they openly have sex with each other on show vehicles (yes, it happens), etc.
If heteros would do that, they'd be arrested for indecency, but for gays it's apparently some cultural expression that's NORMAL??? Doesn't that set them apart from the rest of the population, exactly the opposite of what the CLAIM to want?

If they wouldn't constantly force their homosexual feelings upon others, they'd be accepted as normal human beings a lot more readily (in fact, I worked together with several gay people where I found out they were gay only by accident. They were some of the finest colleagues I ever had).
I don't care if someone is heterosexual, homosexual or whatever, as long as he doesn't try to force his ideas upon me...

Well, then how do you expect gays to participate as equals when your language in the post isn't inclusive to them? You can't have it both ways.

"Well, then how do you expect gays to participate as equals when your language in the post isn't inclusive to them? You can't have it both ways."

THEY DONT!! read the title of the post. It says GIRLFRIEND. If we had a show your bf post, then they can show there boyfriend. We have to include everone huh? What about the Macintash post. I dont have a mac, so should he change it? NO. I just wont post because I dont know thing 1 about them. Thats the way it is. Show us a pic of your gf. would leave out most girls on the fourm right? yes, but they can post a pic of there bf on another topic, that does not include ME and most members. Deal with it. Not everyone can be included in everything and dont expect it to bo or modify it that way!!

Right, silly me. If you can't participate in one thread (post your girlfriend's picture), then you can't participate equally.

Perhaps I should start a thread opposing Israel-Palestine issues. They don't affect me, and I have no need to participate in the discussion, so I can't participate equally.

CPDC-10-30, you can still participate equally without responding to every thread. Don't reply to the threads that don't interest you. I don't care that Ual747 is gay, so I didn't reply. You don't have a girlfriend, so you don't have to reply to the Post-a-picture thread. It's that simple.

Also, gays can participate in the Post your GF's pic thread...I'm sure the straight members would be happy to see some hot lesbians on airliners.net...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Believe it or not Jwenting, many gay folks have a problem with gay pride parades and the images they present. But I'd be curious to know where you witnessed actual sex happening on a parade float. The only place that might possibly happen is San Francisco, because it certainly doesn't happen in NYC or any other American city.

Also, regarding your comment "If they wouldn't constantly force their homosexual feelings upon others"... I'm not sure if you're saying that gay guys try to hit on you all the time, but if you are I can't believe that's true. If you're simply saying that you don't like knowing people are gay or witnessing gay-oriented conversations, then whose problem is that?? Isn't that really your issue??
