Hi!
Last question. I was just wondering if anyone else has satellite TV and what channels they liked. I am generally talking about the kind where you get a dish and watch free channels from around the world.
Some of the channels I enjoy these days are:
PMC, Persian Music channel, kinda like MTV but with Persian songs mostly. Generally cool looking Iranian men and women in music videos singing farsi pop tunes which wouldn't be allowed for 2 seconds if they were in Iran probably!
NHK World, Japanese news/general programming channel in English. Many interesting and informative programs about Japan and events in Asia and the World.
CCTV 9 - Chinese news channel in English. Chinese and World news channel in English from China. Reminds me of what CNN used to be like for some reason.
Korea TV - Some good Korean pop videos which generally have a big rnb influence although sung in Korean.
Previously I also use to look up frequencies for NBA basketball and the David Letterman show which you could also get sometimes. But I think there are quite a few good channels there. Also MBC 3 and 4 and MBC action were broadcast from the Middle East but would show lots of good Hollwood movies in English but with arabic subtitles if you had a dish for it for free.
Anyway just wondering does anyone else watch satellite TV and have channels they like?

I have Sky, which I suppose qualifies. We don´t get PMC, but we do get NHK. We also get most all of Latin America´s most important channels. I also get TV5 (French channel) DSW, Italian RAI, Spanish TVE.
You are too young probably, but it´s really just an enhancement of Short Wave Radio. I remember being a 5 year old and hanging out in the night with my (now deceased) father and tuning to different channels around the world on this huge Grundig contraption.

Hi!
Many thanks. I didn't know they have Sky (Rupert Murdoch's Sky?) in Mexico? Wow. I guess I don't see why they shouldn't.
I think you can learn a lot about places from satellite TV. Particularly the Middle East. Most people see Middle East countries only on CNN. They don't see their pop tunes or make-up shows or chat shows or anything. Not to mention Hello Kitty dubbed in arabic!
I do remember short wave radio a bit if that's what you mean but not TV. On radio I used to like tuning into and getting Russia and stuff even if I didn't understand. Also there was an American armed forces station which used to broadcast the superbowl live so we used to stay up hours listening to that with all the crackle and stuff. Like you said good times!
