one of the pioneers of sci-fi for children's televsion, Gerry Anderson has died today. His legacy...

Captain Scarlett
Space 1999

His ideas were ahead of its time... my only quibble would be the CGI version of Captain Scarlett that came out a few years ago, where it didn't look right.

Thunderbirds are GO!

This is so sad, I have all of his great work on DVD that I can find. I'm 51 and still enjoy watching them. His "Supermarionation" was and still is very enjoyable to watch.

Any idea where I can get any Thunderbird memorabilia?

Thanks for making life great Gerry and we'll see you on the other side.

When you think of the drivel our kids have to watch these days compared to the quality and imagination of kid's programmes in the 60-70s, it's shocking.

My favourite was UFO and Space 1999. Very advanced TV and very ambitious for a child audience. I happened to meet Barry Morse, the doctor in Space 1999. Great guy and great to chat with.

I think modern kid's TV programme makers need to learn a few lessons from our Gerry. A true star and guiding light for a generation of kids.
